Just waiting

Standing here waiting for hubby to finish doing last
minute things before we head home.
1
Yup it’s late again
but I’m really not that tired.
2
The days have been flying by and I didn’t even realize today was Friday.
I guess that might be a good sign….if I hated being here
then time would drag.
3
I just wanted to share one of my favorite spring bulbs that
you may not know about.
Puschkinia libantica ‘Blue’
or also known as Striped Squill.

Ain’t it purdy??

Have a great weekend wherever you are.

hugs

Happy Mothers Day

Too all the loving Mothers who give their time and devotion
I wish you a wonderful day of love and happiness.

I was so lucky to have the best Mother in the whole
world who encouraged me in every way.

She always made me feel that every silly thing I made was
the best thing she ever saw.

I miss her everyday.

and miss you all too.
Hope that you forgive me for being absent these last weeks and
thank you for being concerned about me.

Spring is a crazy time around here

and it wouldn't be fair to make George do all the work!
would it?

Zipper flowers

Just a little post to share this zipper craft with you.
I found it on the Martha Stewart website.
I signed up for emails from them awhile ago and get one everyday.
I don't look at all of them but this one seemed interesting.

If you’re like me you hold on to too much stuff with the thought that you
will reuse it sometime. This is a good way to put old zippers to good use, because do you really think you’re
going to make a garment and sew a zipper in it? Well, there was a time I
did do that…..but no more.
The website had instructions that were good but I don't know how
you are, but I’m not always good with instructions
so I recommend watching the video.
Find instructions and video

Now I have to get back to working on my perennial preorder for Spring.
Can’t wait too long or all the good stuff will be taken.
I'd rather be making zipper flowers:)

But I am having fun looking back at pictures of the perennial farms Open House I attended last Fall.
I panicked at first that I couldn’t find my notes and then remembered I had photographed the
plants and the tags telling me the name.
That's important to do or I'd have no idea of the variety now.
It's easier!
Click click…. done!
I may bore you with the pics of the plants I’m ordering.
The hard part for me is decided what to show so I may just
barrage you with lots of them.
The coneflowers they grew were incredible.
So many new varieties that it’s a bit overwhelming.
I bought a few new echinaceas for the garden but I left them out where
everyone could see them and they
got all bought up.( that's not good English I know)
All you have to do is say they are not for sale and
everyone wants them:)

Ok now get some zipper flowers made.

Spring Detours

Just a week ago when we had one of the most beautiful days of the year I started off just taking a few pictures of our yard. I couldn't show you the real yard... that's still full of leaves and perennials that haven't been cut down yet. Maybe by late summer I'll have it presentable enough to give you a view, but for now the birdhouses are all I can show. You know the saying "The cobbler children have no shoes" This applies to us too.

The grass planted by this birdhouse stayed short enough for the first couple of years but now it almost completely covers it in the summer. I thought I'd move it when it got too big which I knew it would evidentually but now I kind of like the way it looks and hopefully the birds do too and feel more protected.

This is a birdhouse that a friend of mine gave me. I was thrilled when I got it. I'd always wanted one like it. It was made by a local person that had donated it for an silent auction. I just painted it white.

This is one that is unfortunately started to show a little wear. Needs a little tlc before the roof caves in but it looks good from this angle.

I took a small detour and was taking pictures while driving down the road with my camera out the window. Most pictures didn't come out. Way too blurry....This house I actually slowed down for. I love the flowers on the front door. The couple who live here are retired and sell flowers by the side of the road. She ran a flower shop for years and makes the most beautiful arrangements and sells them for a song...well money actually... not a song. They were working in the front yard cleaning up when I was there so we had a little conversation about her orchid plant and then I was on my way.

When I got back to work I had to drop off my husband at the garage to pick up his van so on the way back decided to make another detour to see one of my customers gardens. Last year she had wanted me to come see the spring bulbs that I've been planting for her every fall for the past 3 yrs. but I couldn't find the time. So I figured this was a good time to see her snowdrops that she loves so much.

They are planted by her front door so she can enjoy them as much as possible. I've planted a lot more daffodils in her yard that I'll have to come back to photograph for her.

Til then enjoy the day. This was a nice start to Spring. Hopefully the rest of it will be as nice as this day was.
