Pretties and random thoughts

If you didn't know it was October on the calendar, notice the cooler weather, pumpkins all around you might think I was stuck in Spring or Summer by these photos. I had fun the other day finally shooting some of the little things I bought at Brimfield. Sorry for the Easter card too!  I'll save some of the other Holiday ones for another time. Couldn't start with the Christmas cards quite yet. I was lucky and found a booth that sold vintage postcards only. They were a cute old couple that just let me quietly peruse their extensive collection. What fun to read some of the messages on the back. Almost as wonderful as the images on the front. Wish they made them like that now.
The ribbon you see was from that wonderful booth I showed you here.  I spent more time buying various linens. Too many to show you now. The salvia is from the huge pot I keep . It has to be brought in the greenhouse during the winter. It was immense this year. I dried it out so many times but it still survived. I think it likes a little abuse. By abuse I don't mean I forgot about it for days. It needed 2 gallons of water everyday at least. I have a bouquet in the kitchen by my sink and makes dish washing more enjoyable. You might be surprised but I like doing dishes! Gets the dirt under my nails cleaned! 2 birds with one stone.
Well I just put in another loaf of ciabatta bread. Out in 30 minutes and then I have to run. I was off eating bread for a week but I just can't do it. I have to have bread in my diet even if I have to cut out something else. Not sure what that will be......there isn't much bad food I eat anymore.
Is there a certain food you can't live without?

What does bread, dishwashing and my salvia have to do with these vintage finds? Nothing just gives you an idea how my brain works:)

oh yeah it's Friday I think I will join Deb at VIF

Pretties at Brimfield

Brimfield brings out all sorts of people.
I always think if I had more time and wasn’t so focused on all the great “stuff”
I could make a day of just photographing people.

I did stop and ask these lovely ladies if I could take their picture

They giggled but
were happy to oblige.

Shopping in style

Check out their boots!

(Notice the cute kitty fabric and pin)

Using vintage fabrics this booth carried some wonderful handmade baby clothes.
We chatted for awhile. I was going to take her card but this was her last show.
She was retiring and going to enjoy traveling and taking it easy.

She did convince me that I need to go to Montreal.
The Europe of North America.
The last time I went I was a child visiting with my parents.
We stayed with friends and by the end of the trip I was speaking French with a Canadian accent
without even realizing it.

I digress.

linens

lace
This would have been so pretty with a simple skirting sewn along the edge.

I thought of it but I have so many unfinished projects as it is.

Using various hankies.

wall decor

This was a booth with all shabby chic accessories and furniture.

photo file

In the vain of all these candy colors is this photo file.
I loved the look of this but wasn’t sure I wanted to just store photos in it and
you couldn't remove them.

mantel

I loved this mantel but it really wasn’t a color I could use…..nor do I need a mantel  but I wanted it anyways.
I kept looking at it trying to figure out how I could use it,
but I never bought it.
Do you find yourself draw to thing that are not really your style?
or your colors?

green
Now this ribbon was almost the same color as the mantel.
Loved the way it was displayed.
That’s what made me notice them….
and of course that problem that I just mentioned

more green

box of ribbon

red ribbon

and then I saw the red ones.
At first I dismissed the thought of buying these.
They were red and I never buy red.
Ok not never…..but not for myself….but I do for the shop.

Right, I could buy it the Christmas shop.

ribbon tree

So I bought a few yards.
I have an idea of how I will use it.

We’ll see what happens.

BERIBBONED

Are you as crazy about ribbon as I am?

                 No maybe not.
In which case turn away now….no just kidding
If you do love it then you might enjoy these pics.
                                                                                                    more blue 2
Like I mentioned in a previous post I love playing with the ribbons and
get pretty excited when I find someone that shares my passion for them too.

                                                                                more blue
Now I don’t often have them just laying around in a big jumbled mess though after photographing
them this way all I could think of was wouldn’t it be
great if I could have long strips of them hanging there for people to run there fingers thru.
That to me would just be so fantastic.
Maybe Santa will bring me more room for my ribbon so I can
do that next year.
haha
    Right G?

                                                                                      blue ribbon

                                                                                             lace
I’m working on making  cuffs out of these.
                                                                                            embrod

                                                                               velvet
Every time I look at these they remind me of Magnolia Pearl but without the      lace….. just the yummy velvet.
I’m thinking of changing my sewing room to look like one of her rooms…
                         I wish!
                          It’s so not right now.
But with a little velvet and lace it just might come close.
                                                                               white

                                                                                  snowflakes

                                                                                                                diamond

                                                                          b&w

                                                                 grey

                                                                green

                                                       more green
See I got a little carried away unrolling spools and finding like colors.
I love watching the faces of people as they try to figure out what they could
to do with it. It’s really endless but I do get asked all the time.
                              Just a few other ideas…….
                        Tie backs
                     hanging cards from
                   hair accessories
                      draped on a mantel
                  napkin rings
                     trim on clothing
                  rosettes
Do you have a special way of using ribbon?

                                                              more brown

                                                                brown

                                                                  more print

                                                                 printed
I really do carry red ribbon for the true traditional
Christmas customers but forgot to take pictures of it.
It’s still what I sell the most of….what can I say?
Can you believe Christmas is only 10 days away?
It’s just flying by but we do have one tree in the house…..
that’s early for us but still not decorated.
                Maybe tonight!
You know me I’ll still be decorating after Christmas….
                      I know I’m weird!
I think I’m going to keep it simple this year.
            We’ll see if I can……
