White in the garden

               March 1st!!!!
I know everyone has been waiting more then any winter in a long time to have Spring arrive.
All that other WHITE stuff
is just getting to be too much for everyone
and so I thought revisiting some
photos of white flowers and garden pieces would be a welcome sight.
                                              hydrangea anna
This is our Annabelle Hydrangea that is in front of the porch on what George and I call the Johnney house.
I won’t bore you with the reason why we call it that.
Annabelle is one of the earliest white hydrangea’s to bloom but it also gets that
                         dried look much earlier.
I sometimes think I want to change it since it gets a little floppy.
I just learned there is a new variety of arborescens that won’t flop as much call Incrediball.
Funny name……we’ll have to see if the claim is true and if it’s “incredible”

                                                           hydrangea
This is a hydrangea on the other side of the porch that has been there for about 20yrs now. I’d like to tell you
I know exactly which one it is but all I can tell you is that it’s either
Summer beauty, Pink Beauty or All Summer Beauty.
See I don’t know everything…
This crazy hydrangea has bloomed every color imaginable in the almost 20yrs it has been here too.
This particular year it was almost white with a hint of blue.
Some years it’s been pink, blue and white all at the same time.

I remember taking this picture 2 yrs ago at night  after a rain.
Not really a good time to take pictures. Not so much because it’s wet….that never bothers me.
The quality is not there but I just love lily of the valley. So many hate it because it
gets a little out of control. People always tell me I’m welcome to come dig it out of their gardens.
                             I politely decline.

                                              finial

A concrete finial that we’ve had kicking around for some years now. We’ve had the top kicking around
just as long. As a matter of fact my friend Paula has seen it on a shelf by my counter
and picked it up curiously wondering what she could do with it.
It probably will never get repaired. The finial sits by where the
                  kitties get fed.
I’d like to think they like it there and enjoy having something to rub up on….

Golly...sure got me fired up! Such lovely white images, oh the hydrangeas, and then there's the lilly of the valley. I wish it would grow out of control in my garden! Love the concrete finial....you know Gorilla Glue works great on concret, and now they have a white glue.

Have a wonderful White Wednesday,
Susie

Hi Carole, I love hydrangeas very much. The single tiny blossoms are as pretty as the whole flower is. They come in such beautiful colors. Years ago, during my blue-loving-phase, I certainly loved the blue ones the most. Now I prefer the pink and the white ones :-).
Hugs to you,
Julia

Now I'm on the hunt for "Incrediball" hydrangeas. The name alone is fun.
I have a pair of sheep ears on a shelf that could sit by your finial and keep it company!

Hi Carole,
I just bought some Lily of the valley to plant this year. My grandmother always had tons of it, so it is a favorite of mine. Love that rusty chair:) Hope you are having a great week.

Sigh....those pictures are like soft summer rain on a dry and weary soul. Longing for those days to come soon. Hoping it won't be a long hot dry summer again. Ready for green grass, blue sky, summer rains, fireflies, and flowers everywhere.

I love these spring pictures. It really helps knowing somewhere in the world people are preparing for spring. Up here in Alaska we still have two more months of winter...I am glad I stopped by today!

Hi Carole-beautiful photos! I love hydrangea. They're beautiful and don't require too much care which works for me! I want to get a hydrangea tree this year-who knows, maybe I'll get up your way and get it from you! I really want to come up in the spring.

Lily of the valley is one of my favorites. I love the way it smells too. Out of control? I'm not even going there. :)

That is such a pretty hydrangea. I was so tickled to figure out that they actually will grow here in FL. I may just have to go looking for that one.
How nice that yours have been so healthy for so many years. Is there any particular reason that you think they are. I'd love to learn the secret of your success with them.

Happy White Wednesday to you Carole.
I enjoyed coming to look at all your pretty whites in your garden.
I am envious of your Lily of the Valley, I wished my plant could have got out of control. It did well for one year but I think the weather is too warm here and it needed some colder temps.
Isn't it neat how hydrangeas change their colour.

Have a wonderful weekend

Carole, you make me dream even more of spring!
The new issue of Jeanne d'Arc also helped. I like this one! A little more color...
I agree with you about the Annabelles, I love mine, but they can get a bit unruly. Funny, one of my hydrangeas changes colors all on one bush.
Wish my Lily of the Valley would spread more.
I planted some in the woods..in light shade..and they are not doing so good. They must not like that spot.
Carole I enjoyed our pow-wow the other day. It is always fun to talk to you!!!!!
Love ya, Evi

Lovely photos, Carole! I especially like the rusty garden chair.

I love lily of the valley and wouldn't mind if it spread all over the yard, but then again, I'm not the one that mows. I don't think my husband would appreciate it as much. ;)

Maybe what I have is an Annabelle hydrangea; mine looks very much like yours. It came from an old homeplace 20 years ago, and I never knew what kind it was.

Yippee for Spring! Thanks for the beautiful photos.

Hi Carole! i love lily of the valley... it reminds me of the perfume that my grandmother wore. It doesn't really bother me if it gets out of control either because it grows along side the house where not much else grows. I have some in back where you can't notice when I take big chunks out of it to bring some inside to make the house smell wonderful! I can't wait for spring! Happy Monday! xoxo

That Annabelle certainly is a beautiful bush.
Lily of the Valley has got to be the most fragrant flower for its tiny size.
My magazine arrived and I want to thank you for the excellent service and very fast shipping.
