Lazy days…..if you’re a cat

cricket

Life is rolling along like it always does.
One minute, one hour, one day at a time.
All of a sudden (well not really) it’s come to my attention
that it’s time to get my house in order
and get planting.
Last week we got down to business and deep
cleaned the greenhouses,
putting things together to save space so new
 things could get planted.

charlotte

Organizing plants is not like organizing your sock drawer.
Of course I’m not good at that either, but I did my best.
I now have a linen sock bag they all get toss into.
(I can do that now since we’re not in shorts season yet)

Whatever I pick is what I wear.
They are all the same color btw …white. No time to sort…ugh
I used to do that but it drove me crazy.

drink

I had these cups and teapots that I brought out to plant but decided
Charlotte would enjoy using it as a water dish meanwhile.
I haven’t gotten to planting them anyways.
George caught her pawing at it. That usually means she’s trying to
cover it up so no one else can find it.
She does that with her milk too.
I couldn’t get the camera out fast enough.

cute

But I did when she was playing
the “come see how cute I am….
and how can you just stand there ignoring me? game.
Of course I loved her up right after.

I wanted to thank you all who commented on my last post.
Seems many of us have our “me” time to relax and take breaks
from work. We all need that to keep sane I think.

It’s hard to do when there are deadlines to meet though.

lady in field

I especially enjoyed the comments about the photo of the
girl and cow in the field.
You were right it was like she was about to get a kick in the head.
or worse.
( I’ll just leave it at that)

girl redo

I redid it and switched her positions. Tanya had a great idea to make
her look like she was feeding the cow. Thanks Tanya!!!
Somehow it came out darker
the next go round. I tried to match the tone but since she was in black and
white and the original photo wasn’t. It looks a little off to me.
I’m not completely satisfied but that’s alright.

Maybe cropping will make it better.

Ok I think I like it better.
Talk about blogging on the fly.

ok I have one more thing to talk about!
Sweet Theresa of
is having a wonderful Giveaway.
One of you can win a custom made
pendant necklace that she’s calling
“a snippet of life”.
high resolution pendantbracelet picnik008

If she reaches 600 followers during that time she
will announce 2 winners.
She’s pretty close! so won’t you help her meet her goal?

Ok,
Enjoy your day!
I have to go plant something :)

so so hot

Another day of heat to go.
( it's been a heatwave in many parts of the country)
Today it read 95 on my car thermometer.
I kept thinking it was going to lower when I started to drive down the road....but no.
It's been hot all week and I've been able to handle it
pretty well....but today was a killer.
Today I did hydrate myself more.
I started to realize that I hadn't been drinking enough
water and started to get a headache.
A sure sign of heat exhaustion.
Also so important to wear a hat. Keeping your head cool is also key to making it thru this kind of sun and heat.
....and if you can

RELAX

See my cats are well trained in the ways of avoiding heat exhaustion.

and drinking plenty of water.

We keep lots of bowls of water all over this place.
One of our crazy stray cats used to stand in the water while he drank it.

As you can see Charlotte isn't too afraid of water either.
Being a cat in a greenhouse you have to expect to get sprayed with water now and then.

Stay cool my friends and have
a great weekend.

I'll be here sweating:)

Just another day

Some of you may know that we have been getting ready for

planting and this week has been....lots of cleaning, getting things seeded and little plugs

put into their little pots........and sometimes big pots:))

The weather here feels more like Spring then Winter.
But I've seen this before. Unseasonably warm as
the weather men like to call it.

The plants do seem to love the extra sun that isn't always
in plenty every Winter when they are put into
hyper grow time.

Sometimes it can feel like watching water boil.

"Do you see anything growing???"

" No, not really"

Then suddenly that plant will explode into bloom

before you realize the time has passed.

The days now are spent mostly in the greenhouses.

and with our cats. They seem to migrate to the houses with us more.

Where we are.... they are.

They are very social creatures.

But it's why we love them!

When we take a break then they take a break!
Well......
They're more on perma-break .
Oh... btw that's Shaggy.
I think this is his first appearance.
He's our big tuxedo kitty.

No, this isn't a ghost or some strange possessed animal
lurking underneath the benches.
It's just Charlotte.
Ok enough cat pictures....
but you have to admit it's been a long
time since I've shown my cats....my kids:)) I've been really good!
I've been resisting the urge
to not show their sweet adorable furry faces.
in every post...:))
Now, what I really wanted to talk about is what I saw this afternoon.
When I was heading out to run an errand
I came to close down the houses and check the temperature settings.
I looked and saw this.
Which doesn't look like much but when you
realize that I've been waiting 3 years to see even THAT!
I was excited!!!!!!
I know, it doesn't take much.

Then I saw THIS hidding behind that above....
you probably recognize it I'm sure.
A Bird of Paradise.
I called George immediately to tell him.
He was not as thrilled.
He just wanted to know if I was on my way to where I
was supposed to be.....
"Yes, I'm going!!!!"
When I came back and went right to see it again. I hadn't had time
to really get a good look yet.
By that point George was back too and I said "have you seen it ?"
"Oh" he goes....."that's been blooming since Christmas".
"WHAT
and you didn't tell me????"

What can I say.....
I had to wait 3yrs to see it and I could have seen it
2 months ago but I was
Content now.
I told you
I doesn't take much!!!

Black and White Sunday

We often say
"when I die I want to coming back as one of my cats." They do seem to have the life!!!! Sleeping more then 18 hours a day.
( our boys-Shaggy,Romy and Jelly)
But lets face it we're the lucky ones. I can't imagine this place without them. It seems so natural to have them here. Many times people will come up and tell us that they just saw one of our cats then another, then another and then another. We have 7!!!!....all born here except for Charlotte...who you've met before.

We stopped having any new kittens years ago.
It was always such a joy to have kittens around watching them hop, skip, tumble all over the place learning to test their strengths and limitations.

....but having them mature and learn to get along with each other has been just as joyous.

Seeing them give each other little signs of kindness is so touching and sweet.
It's something we should all learn from them.
Thanks for stopping by and letting me introduce you to my little furry family and of course.....
Thank you Anne Marie for hosting
Black and White Sunday!!!
