Vintage at the gift show

Since coming back from the show….which I only went to on Monday,
the week has just flown by.

I didn’t end up taking half as many pictures as I had wanted to.
So much to see and order …..so little time.
But I did go back to this one showroom at the end of the show just so
I’d have more to show you then just lots of pictures of the city while on the shuttle bus.
Not sure that would interest you though I loved the vantage point myself.

Anyways I’ll keep this short and just let you see some of the cool
things that manufacturers are producing that are vintage inspired.

I had to have this.

I’m going to use this for planting succulents in.

This is the chandie I bought myself. I know I shouldn’t have.

chalk board

Cool chalkboard but what I really loved was the artwork….
with chalk!

cubby

Tin cubbies
                    pumpkins

Some Vintage style Halloween which I debated on ordering.
I really like it but I don’t find it moves for me.

I couldn’t help wanting to take a picture of it anyways.

Do you decorate a lot for Halloween or is it just Fall Decorations?
My niece will be here visiting in October and I plan on doing a bit of
Halloween decorating like I used to do. She’s french so I’m thinking she’ll think it’s a little strange….

or we’re strange.
But when has that ever stopped me…?

For Vintage Inspired Friday.
By the way she's having a great 2 yr blogging anniversary
Giveaway.

Have a good weekend!

A Gathering for Vintage Bling

Do you remember when I told you about the Vintage Jewelry event at

Gather in the center of Ivoryton Ct.?

Well I’m finally going to show you what you missed.

I know that’s not very fair

but I know you’ll love seeing it at least.

The event went on from 1-8pm
I was there at 2 and left hubby at work alone.
Nice hubby right?.
You can see from this picture that there was hours of
exploring to do. This was going to take time.
case of silver

I wasted no time shopping.
The cases were very organized by necklaces, rings, bracelets, charms,
silver, precious stones colors and themes.
red book
I did my shopping first and took pictures later.
I’m no dummy

rhinestone bracelets
I focused on the rhinestone pieces and the silver but don’t worry I took
pictures of more then that.
rhinestone pins

assortment
crystal pins
ring on finger
I thought I was done shopping but I decided to pick up this cute pinky ring.
Normally I don’t like to draw attention to my hands……there NOT my
best asset! usually dry and cracked from working in the dirt
but on my pinky it looked cute.
Does that give the impression that my rings don’t fit anymore??
I don’t know?

silver
pocket knife

dangles
These would be great for a black tie event.
I go to those a lot!
No!!!
but I’d like to.
blue green pins
It was fun grouping the different colors together.
The blues and aqua blues were striking.
blue pin 3
cobalt blue

How about that IKE pin???
and that crown pin?
blue pins
The one on the bottom left is really gorgeous.
Why did I let that one go?

cameos and bird pin

I couldn’t resist this bird pin so that one came home with me.
animals
Animal theme pins.
cameos
I also bought this lovely bracelet!
see the more I photographed them the more I bought.
My little basket was filling right up.
I kept finding other customers picking my jewelry out of my basket.
Had to Slap their hand!
Kidding……. sort of.
What can I say I picked good stuff.

This was about the time that the hors de oeuvres were
coming out and the rum cider!
151 proof I might add.
`

green bracelet
This is our lovely hostess Deanna modeling this piece.
It looked great on her. Now she can pull off a colorful jewelry piece
and I just can’t for some reason.
I look like I’m wearing my mothers jewelry…
and not to give the impression that I look that young either.
Hey maybe I should wear colorful jewelry!
green necklace

pink pins

sex and the city jewelry
NOW here is the BIG BLING BLING
though it is not vintage. They told me that this is made
by the same designer that made the jewelry for Sex and the City.
I can picture Carrie Bradshaw wearing this.
bling bling bracelets
Isn’t this wild??
Not that anyone would wear that many pieces of jewelry at one time
but how cool is that?

The event was a great success and I know
the girls of Dawns Vintage Jewelry will be back again.

I left that night at 7…yep I was there that long….
As people were getting out of work
more were walking thru Gathers doors….
Some trying on jewelry, some shopping her vast and wondrous
inventory of the rest of the shop ,
some drinking coffee from Ashlawn Farms, some
sitting in her wonderful and comfy new used books section
and catching up with friends and neighbors.
The place was abuzz with people.
It was exciting to see.
The name of the store really fits this place.
It truly is a place for the towns people
to “Gather” which was the vision Deanna
had when she opened the store 3 years ago.
When I walked out thru the doors the sound of laughter fading in the background.
The memory of a great day with
 friends was
now
mine!
and a few lovely pieces to add to my collection too.

Thanks Deanna!

Giving all around!

I had all intentions on this White Wednesday with
to finally show you the things I bought at Brimfield...
gee over 3 weeks ago now.
Nothing like dragging it out. I had a friend that use to say " You tell a story like Edith Bunker" remember her?
always dragging it out !!!
Well my blog is like that too......
Stretching it out as long as I can!
making you all wait.
Well when you see why I've made you wait you won't be so disappointed with me.
The other day I received a package in the mail.
The first thing my husband said was " What did you get this time?"
As if I always get lots of things in the mail addressed to me...just me... not the biz.
At first it threw me off. It was in a Two's Company box. I thought? did I order anything from them??? they're a gift co.
Then I saw Vintage Living on it from Rebecca. I thought this is it!!!!!!!
it's here!

I took it out of it's box and there it was all wrapped all pretty and such with the cutest tag made of lace and velvet ribbon. A small bird tied to the lace and little tag saying "Just for me"!!!!

well it really said Just for You.......which is "me"

Last week when Rebecca had posted White Wednesday I mentioned I loved the bridal headpiece from her antique store shopping spree which you can see HERE.
She wrote back and said she would love me to have it. I was so touched by her kindness. A little embarrassed too so I told her I'd be more then happy to pay her. She insisted it would not be necessary so I told her I'd at least send her a Jeanne d' Arc Living magazine.

She agreed and I felt better..... it seemed only fair....... well until I opened this gorgeous box and laid my eyes on it.
I think I actually gasped for air.

Can you blame me???

Look at this culmination of femininity all wrapped in a box.
The creamy colored tulle is secured to the box with a delicate edging of thread that is part of the veil and frames it so beautifully. The satin ribbon is antique white with a hint of pink. Even the box it's in is lovely with the right amount of age and patina.

You can imagine how thrilled I was. I have never owned anything this precious and graceful. It's truly a work of art and I will treasure it forever.

Thank you so much Rebecca it is one of the nicest gifts I've ever received. I knew when I first saw your blog on my first week participating in White Wednesday (back when there were only a few participants) that I just loved it. It's been wonderful getting to know you and I hope to stay friends for a long time.

Now this takes me to another subject about giving.....
Back a few months ago Kelee from Kelee Katillac made us aware of the need to help raise money for animals that also had been suffering from the economic down turn. Yes even they suffer. People could no long feed their pets or no longer had a place to live. They were giving them up or worse just abandoning them.
This project is called The Pet Scarf Project from Design Gives Back and $2000 was raised already. The Blog Party is today and I didn't want you to miss out. If you go to Kelee's site and leave a comment a $1 will be donated to the cause. It's that easy!!!
Please watch the video and you'll get to see all the animals wearing their decorated scarves and the shelter where they are doing such great work.
You can also enter Kelee's giveaway too !!! for $100 from Hobby Lobby.
I tried so hard to upload the video on my blog but I couldn't do it. Not tech savvy enough. boo-hoo!
This was Nigella wearing her scarf being the good sport and diva that she is!!!
Thanks for stopping by!!!
I know this is kinda a mish-mash post
but....
Please go visit Kelee and make a diffence in an animals life.

Love,

Carole
