White Wednesday

After our time at the antique show in Naugatuck we stopped
back at Paula's house so we could look over all that we
had bought.
Just so we could eeww and ahhh over everything. How come guys don't do that???
Maybe they do......but I'm sure a bunch of old keys wouldn't do it for them:))

and certainly not lace!!! Their loss!!!! Right?
Paula picked these up for a great price if I remember right....from a guy!!!
He probably thought......why would anyone want old keys???

or a little metal chicken???

This Paula was told was a corkscrew but it seemed too small for that???
Maybe one of you knows.
She was wearing it like a ring.......

I stayed far enough away.... haha

In one of the booths she had picked up some window blind hangers.
When I got to another booth right
next door the lady was selling a small box full of them along with other
crocheted items so I told Paula about them.
She of course bought the box.
She used some of them on presents she gave on Valentines Day
at our luncheon at Evi's we all attended.

I wish I crocheted more then circles!!!

I love this little crocheted basket!

A little something from Jones Drug store in Bridgeport,Ct.

2 tablets taken every 4 hrs until pain goes away....etc....etc.

sounds familiar.

Being a pharmacist Paula always looks for these kinds of boxes.
So much cuter taking pills from this kind of container
then what they give you now.
I'm sure back then they never gave it any thought.

The book I was telling you about that I bought was the
Youth's Companion. The graphics were so intriguing.
Paula bought the same book but just a little smaller.

What you see in the first few pictures above.

The nice man that sold us the book was telling us that they would print them
on a regular basis they would then have them bound
together to make a book. It has over 800 pages.

He was telling us while he was waiting for the show to open he read
some of the stories. He found it fun
to imagine the kids reading them back then in the 1800's.
No TV or internet or video games in those days.

We didn't dare tell him we wanted the book to tear the
pages out. We thought better of it after that.
After I read some of the stories....
but not all 800+ pages!!

Copies might be good too:))))

This thermometer in the shape of a key
was interesting though I think it long ago
stopped working.

Newport RI is marked on the top.
I have relatives there in one of those
castles along the bluffs:)

HaHa I wish!!!!!!

I have more buttons then I know

what to do with, but I had to have these. They had just the

right amount to grunge to them.

The beautiful etched bottles I bought from
The galvanized metal
milk carrier was sweet too and I got asked about it throughout the show.
I think he kind of regretted selling it to me at the price he told me....

or at least his wife did.

This is the bag I bought from Debra too. This picture doesn't show the detail.

But this one does!!!! I love it!

Don't forget to see our hostess Kathleen
at Faded Charm and visit the other participants of WW.
I've missed doing White Wednesday the last couple of weeks.
Glad to have the opportunity to do one more!!!...
thank you for stopping by.

My first Blogger meeting and a little shopping

A few weeks ago I got an email from
asking me if I knew about an antique and collections show in
Naugatuck Ct.

She and her daughter Nicole were doing that show for the first time,
in the past having only just shopped there.
I thought sure, why not in the middle of Winter!!!!!....
months from me going to a fleamarket.
I had met Debra thru White Wednesday and loved her blog
and her look so I knew it would be fun.
I got my favorite shopping pals to come along.
Kathleen and Paula.
No arm twisting required!
I had never been to Naugatuck. Sounded like it should have been
on the East side of the state.
Everything there has a "tuck" at the end of it...))
but it was near Waterbury more in the middle of the state.
We live in such a small state. I know for some of you
from one end of your state to the other
can seems like an eternity.
I don't particularly like to drive so
my little state suits me fine.
It was being held at the High School so it wasn't fancy
and there wasn't anything large like furniture but mostly little treasures of
jewelry and vintage memorabilia.....so we had fun looking thru
all the goodies. It was the kind of show that you really
had to keep your eyes peeled.
Just the kind of place we all love.

Then we got to Debra's and her daughter Nicole's booth
which was much more decorated with an eye for design.
See all your yummy items from her booth?
Her and her talented daughter make pillows too and handbags.

Aren't they cute together? She's the first person I've met in blogland.
I was trying to not be too nervous:) lol
Her and her daughter are as sweet as they come, just as they seem on their blog.
We were talking like old friends in no time.

Her booth was filled with 50's vintage colors and some Victorian.
It had such a feminine touch that really appealed to us
and I'm sure all of you out there.

I bought the cutest white beaded bag.

A set of 3 glass etched apothacary bottles
and vintage postcards.
I

Kathleen picked up this adorable vintage hat decorated with sweet milinery.
Maybe she'll wear it for Easter?
We made our way around to all the booths
making sure we didn't miss anything.
Kathleen's a linen girl and is always looking for something new

I didn't get this silver bag. Looking at it I wished I had.
I was saving my money for an old book I saw which I'll share on
another post.
I took pictures of the things Paula bought that
I'll show on Wednesday too...
White of course!
Afterwards we left we went to lunch.....

at "First and Last" in Middletown on Main Street.
Paula's being shy :)) and Kathleen is just rummaging thru
her bag I call "the suitcase". It's the "in" thing.
Big Bags!!!
I'm just jealous because it's too FAB!
I was famished and had the brunch buffet
and had 3 plate full....which of course everyone noticed....
mostly salad I protested.
I was so full but the food was amazing.
For dessert they had a tirimisu pudding that was
out of this world!
I shared it with Paula.
Good thing I was so full I would have gone for seconds on that one.
Next time I'll start with dessert!
We all had a great day!!!
and we'll do it again next year!!!!
Thanks Debra for letting me know about
the show.
Isn't blogging great????

Oh where has the time gone???

Oh where has the time gone?????

It seems like an eternity since I last posted pictures and did a regular post. I did feel pretty lucky that I had a few back ups to show. Hope you didn't mind my retreads? if that's the right term for them:)))

I'm here to finally announce that I have finally gotten a new laptop!!! Yipppeeee!

17" screen HP, blueray, webcam builting in (now you can all see me if you dare) and hey, this thing really moves with lightening speed. What a dog my other one was! ( no disrespect to dogs) Granted I haven't loaded all my junk on it yet. I'm also afraid to upload the Photoscape photo editing program I always used. All these warnings come up when I get close to downloading it. I may have to breakdown and buy Photoshop. Do any of you use Photoshop???

The new Window 7 is pretty cool but I haven't figured it all out yet. Thank goodness I have a few younger friends that I can pick their brains about this kind of thing. I did actually pick the computer out myself without any assistance...which explains what took so long.
It's times like that.....
I remember when I was a child....
I can here my parents voices telling the story of how long it would take me to pick out shoes I liked.( I have no recollection of that by the way)
Forget about picking out Barbie clothes.........that, I do remember!!!
and especially when it was my $5.00.
That was a lot of money back then!!!
I guess I've always been frugal.....not cheap!!!
I hate that word!!!
It's been really weird not having my own computer for so long.

( friend Kathleen at Brimfield)

Down right Yucky!!!

As I mentioned before I was spending much of my time at the public library using their computers. This is the first day that I haven't been there ........I wonder if they miss me???

It had it's advantages.

Quiet!!!

Clean!!!

More room to work then I have here!

Fast Computers!!!

All the free printing you could want!!!

Free movies to take home at night!!!

(I only took 1- The Reader....so good!!!)

The only thing it didn't have was a radio.

I really miss listening to NPR!!!

The computers there don't have sound either so no music either from some of your blogs!

or anything else.

But then I was suppose to be working!!! right?

Also no George or my sweet kitty cats!!!

That I missed the most!

He'd call me while I was there and I'd have to whisper, so as not to disturb anyone.

"Hellllllooooo"

he'd whisper back "heelllllooooo.....do you want me to make you some sandwiches???"

I'd start laughing!!!
He answered that way almost everytime!
I'd lol everytime!
I'm easily amused!
Love inside jokes......well, not so inside now that I've told all you guys.
shhhh don't tell him.

It's from the movie "Bad Santa"

if you've seen it you'll get the joke!!!

Sorry for some of you who have no idea what I'm talking about.
You have to see it. It's manditory at Christmas time as much as

"A Christmas Story"

Anyways besides spending lots of time looking for a new computer, getting orders done, cleaning the house after months of never being there, decorating after Christmas with Christmas decorations which I won't bore you with now!

I have been trying to get more......

( puppy at Brimfield)
Sleep!!!!!
if only I looked as cute as this puppy while snoozing!!! and didn't snore!!!
haha

Doesn't bother me.... I can't hear it!!!
I just want to thank all of you for having patience with me and still coming by with support as I went thru this little problem.
Seems extremely minor in comparison to what's happening in Haiti.
Those poor people have gone through so much hardship already seems so unfair to have it compounded like this. I hope you can reach out and do what you can.
One website that I've just recently found is
Please go visit and show your support!!!!
Thank you!

Mosiac Monday #1

This is the time of year that we might think our gardens are not at it's best. The Summer flowers have long gone by and we can barely remember what our first blooms of Spring looked like. Some flowers refuse to give up and put on a better show then ever before. We have had the best "dirt" allysum that I've ever seen. I've been calling them that because they are just growing in the gravel where they reseeded from the flats on the benches above. No watering, no fertilizer, no real soil...just process stone and hard packed subsoil. If I had babied them I'm sure they would not have looked as nice.

The image in the middle is my beloved snowberry!

A collection of turban gourds and pumpkin on a granite bench.

A lantern hanging amongst the Virginia Creeper that wants to take over the world. It grows at the front of the greenhouse but it makes it's way every year about 50 ft along the edge and winds it's way thru the benches. I love just letting it go....and by then the houses are mostly empty so it doesn't really matter where it grows.

Setcreasea (the purple foliage) mixed with simple impatiens and begonias.

And of course my beloved Snowberry!

Can ya tell I like this plant?

One of my favorite plants is the big yellow plant in the middle. Long time ago I knew what this was called..... Heliopsis or Helianthus I'm sure, but not the variety. My husband likes letting it get out of control by not staking it. He just likes the way it looks spilling out around the base of the spruce tree. I'm usually begging him to stake it up but now as I'm seeing it I think I'm beginning to come around to his way.

Wild Abandoned Spirit!

Speaking of Wild Spirits....

my friend Kathleen on the right......always enthusiastic and ready to try anything.

Always fun to be around and you have got to love her Philie accent!!!
Seems appropriate that she should be included in this menagerie of bright color!!!

Don't forget to visit Mary at

for more Mosiac Monday.

My new favorite thing to do....Mosiacs!!!
