Brimfield part 5

The two top images are from Scarlett Scales Antiques that I showed you from last Saturday's post.
I had forgotten to include them.
Angel vine plants but this time trained into topiary forms.

My friend Paula likes them because you can use the stems to make bird nests. Much easier to do when they are fresh. I have a whole box of dried angel vine and to pull it apart is not easy and very dusty.
So if you kill the plants you can make Nests with them....how great is that???
Guilt free plants!
Sort of :)
Love the little zinc pots

This is Ann Marsh's (sorry no website) booth full of all kinds of wire containers. oh and flower frogs too!!!

We ~ Paula, Laura and I had seen her booth last year and loved it. So I made a point to stop and see her. She actually remembered me.

She said "I always remember the people who are having FUN."

Easy to do when your doing what you love!!!

.....shopping!!!

I did oouuu and aahhh over all of her things.

and did come away with a few of her pieces.

These baskets are always useful and can just be left on the floor if you don't have room on a shelf.

I asked her if she'd heard of Jean d'Arc Living?.....she said she hadn't.

I explained that it was a Nordic French style and that the things she carried were a staple of the look....
and of course a lot of WHITE!

"Well that might explain why some French people bought a ton of it the other day to bring back to Paris" she said.
I thought isn't that funny here we want things "from France"
go figure???
The wire hangers were very cool. Not sure what the boxes in the back would have been used for except for the obvious of storing things.

Ok these I'm showing you just for fun.
The little bear on the left was so cute and when you wound him up the little thing on the end of the wire went around in a circle.

I don't know why I wanted him??? I don't collect anything like that. I guess I thought if I started with this one I may end up needing to keep looking for more.

No not another collection!!!

His crocked smile and one eye going off in another direction was what I really liked....

and his friend was kinda cute too.
Promise to show you some of the things I did buy....
Next will be White Wednesday .......of the junk around our greenhouse!
yep junk!

Black and White Sunday on the Guilford Green

I thought I'd take a break from my Brimfield excursion and do Black and White Sunday about the historical Town of Guilford only a few towns from us along the shore. It was settled in 1639 and boosts the third largest collection of historical homes in New England. This is the very condense version and not really about the historical homes. Sometime I might show you some of them. This is just our own personal version of our short afternoon there and our walk on this beautiful and serene town green.
This is the First Congregational Church built in 1830 and except for the steeple which toppled in the 1938 hurricane the church remains basically the same.

The green is the hub of activity for the town. It is the largest green in Connecticut. It's a great place to people watch and for families to bring their children
Pretty quiet on this day. It was during the week and getting late in the day. It gets dark at 7 now....the only thing I don't like about Fall but there are so many things I do like. The ever changing colors of the trees, harvest time, pumpkins, cider, the smell of cinnamon and spice, and of course Halloween!
The Civil War Memorial
This monument commemorates Guilford residents who gave their lives during the Civil War.

Who was that guy?

I'll never tell!

***Edited at 11:00 am Sunday***
when I did this post I had forgotten to title it so I went back and wrote in Black and White Wednesday....when it obviously was B&W Sunday.
I wouldn't have even noticed if Julie hadn't emailed me to tell me. Thanks Julie for waking me up!!!
I have no real excuse...it wasn't even that late at night but I guess working everyday makes you forget what day it is. I do a White Wednesday post most every week too.
Ok...that's enough excuses....
just apoligize and say you're sorry!!!

I'm sorry!
I'm a dumby!

Brimfield part 4

One of my favorite booths was this one called
from Franklin, Tennessee
It was set up like a gift shop....which as I found out they have.
Will have to ask my blog friend Erin from Erins Art and Garden if she lives near by. I think it would be worth the trip and as you see more you'll see what I mean.

They carried the greatest furniture surfaced in zinc. I never asked them if they made it themselves. I've seen tabletops covered but never a whole piece. I imagine you could use it outside for a short period of time or on a covered porch. It would hold up better then an all wooden piece of furniture.
There's my friend Kathleen in the background. No not the mannequin!

Another wonderful dress form. The only other one I found was a brown one for $350. Never got the price on this one.... I don't know why???? I can see the tag hanging from the top...?????

This shade was very cool and looked like they had covered it themselves with vintage fabric.
Old books covered in great graphics

I asked them if they did the Round Top Show in Texas. They said they didn't but they get asked that all the time. Maybe they'll think about going there?
They also have a blog that is all about their store and their junking travels. She said she doesn't update it often but it looked pretty good to me. You can find it
Don't you just love the name Scarlett???

Angel Vine everywhere. Scarlett knew what she was doing. I was just listening to NPR public radio...they said according to feng shui if you want to attract someones eye you need to use the color green or red.
SO plants up front works great and in this case red would have looked out of place. The green foliage plants works well in this whole serene romantic garden look.

This vanity dresser I contemplated getting. It was pretty nice with it's marble top. It was a great price but I really wasn't looking for one. The problem is that the dresser it would have replaced has more drawers..... but has no mirror. It would have gone in our master bathroom and I would have had a good view of myself every time I jumped out of bed and went in there. Not sure I would have enjoyed that! Hard to primp before you go into the room to "primp in" ha-ha
Well only one more post of Brimfield.
A booth full of great garden containers and wire pieces and coincidently from Danbury, Ct.
