White Wednesday and a little JDL Giveaway

I know the excitement that everyone feels when Spring is
upon us. No other place then
a garden center does that enthusiasm come out as much.
Well, maybe your first day at the beach
can give us that thrill too:))

The smile on customers faces when they enter the greenhouse
when they are greeted with something "green" and lush.
It doesn't even have to be flowering.

It alive and it's been a long winter
and they're
READY!!!

We have to be ready too which is why I haven't been
posting or blogging as much lately.

I know you all understand.
I've missed coming around to visit you and feel like I've gotten so behind
on what's been going on with all of you.

In the next few months my schedule will

be more of the same.
It's what my husband George and I have been doing for years so
we're pretty used to it but to most
of our close friends they think

we're NUTS!

we realize now they are

Right!

But as the saying goes
"You have to make hay when the sun shines"
Good thing George doesn't actually go haying anymore.

He did always like it. Maybe because he got to

do it with his dad.

He adored his father.
I miss him too.
I wanted to mention that the 9 issue or 3rd issue for 2010

( I'm never sure what to call it)
will be arriving next month around
April 15th.
Makes tax day much nicer
don't you think?

You can go HERE and preorder if you'd like.

Expected to be just as lovely as the other
issues with more gardens, recipes,
craft ideas and of course decors that spur the imagination.

I thought I'd share what is in the courant issue...just something sweet and

a tradition that you might not have known of.

It is a Danish tradition where a letter containing a riddle has been
crafted from paper.
Children would send these letters to each other,
and if the recipient wasn't able to guess who send the letters,
the author would win a kiss.
Today children still make the letters but rather then a kiss,
they hope for an Easter egg instead.

( Jeanne d'Arc Living)

Nostalgic Ostrich Egg

Here they've decorated a blown out ostrich egg and decoupaged
it using paper and text. They've torn off strips of paper
and glued it onto the egg using glue and decorated it with a little lace and an old Danish coin.
The egg looks great in a lace paper lined sauce bowl.

A few small eggs, onions and feathers compliment the piece.

I think even a novice crafter could do this.

No real big investment of materials needed.
I wish I could say I've made one myself but it
seems these days that I enjoy watching what you
all create more then making it myself.
I'm overwhelmed with the talent you have to
make all the things you do and still have time to blog and share
and even have tutorials about it.

I have so enjoyed getting to know you through your blogs and
emails. I never thought that when I started this blog that
I would love it so much and it would become a daily oasis where I
would find such kind friends.

It's truly made such a difference in my life.

I thought that it was time again to thank all of you for having
been so kind with your encouraging words and comments that
I would do a give away of the 2nd edition magazine just in time for Easter.

I love this magazine and just want to share it with you.

So

All you have to do is leave a comment and let me know what it

is about Easter that you love the most.

That's it!

Anyone already a follower will be entered too!
Winner will be picked next Wednesday on the 31st.

Good Luck!

Oh and
now don't forget to visit our lovely hostess Kathleen at Faded Charm
where you'll find all kinds of wonderful WHITES awaiting you.

Yes, you must be very very busy right now. I know that I love to walk into the garden centers and just see and (also) take in the scent of all the beauties to be had. Thank you for the chance at a giveaway! How wonderful of you to take the time out of your busy schedule. Easter? There are so many things. The pastel colors, the cute babies dressed in their frills and finery, and of course, what Easter is really about. Have a wonderful week!

Oh Carole, what a generous giveaway! Of course what I love most is the celebration and reality of Christ's resurrection, for without that, what hope would we have? I also love all the flowers and pretty pastel colors that begin to bloom everywhere from flower beds to home decor to wardrobes... it's like everything has been re-born.

Carole,

Look what you did! Look how pretty! How did you ever find the time girl? I want those white roses. Do you think they'd last the cross country trip? :-(

Happy Spring! Happy Easter! Happy Everything!

Hi Carole
I love the new header and your lovely pictures...you are just getting too good with that new computer of yours...you are putting me to shame!
Your give away is generous and I will have to order one of your magazines.
Easter is such a joy, it is hard to pick out just one favorite thing but I do have a favorite besides the knowledge of what Christ did for us and His victory over sin for the whole human race. It is the memory of my father singing every Easter the song Jerusalem. He had a wonderful voice and I have it on cd and listen to it every Easter.
Blessings dear friend, it has been such a pleasure to get to know you. Thank you

Oh Carole, you are always such an angel!!! I just love this gorgeous magazine!! What I love about Easter is the meaning.....the TRUE meaning of Easter. That the ultimate sacrifice was made, our Lord's son, Jesus Christ dying for our sins and then....rising from the grave to prove that YES, He IS the son of God and that He died for our sins....this. my sweet friend, is the true meaning of Easter to me ~

hugs and love,
Dawn

Lovely post Carole...I definitely have Spring Fever. I come home everyday for lunch and water the garden.....it's so hard to go back to work, and sit at an ugly metal desk in a stuffy room with florecent lights...blah, blah, blah. Sorry, just had to get that outa my system.

Easter has so many wonderful meanings for me. My first thought goes back to the Wednesday before Easter, 18 years ago, when my Daddy passed away suddenly of a heart attack. We buried him the Saturday before Easter, and celebrated Easter Sunday together as a family. After church, we gathered together at my Brother's home on the lake and ate ourselves silly, played funny games and even played 'duck, duck, goose'. Even in our sorrow, we found joy in celebrating his life! We was a wonderful father!
Happy White Wednesday,
Susie

I love the colors of easter. I adore the weather of spring, not to hot, not to cold, perfect for gardening, and then sitting back sipping some lemonade out in my garden. And I absolutly adore getting together with family and enjoying all the flavors of an Easter brunch.
Thanks and have a wonderful easter.

I can only imagine how busy you and your husband are right now, but surely it is a good kind of busy. You do what you have to do, that's the way life is. Work has to come before blogging that's for sure! I do love your post though so I'll be looking for them.

Carole, thank you for a generous giveaway. I would love to peruse this lovely magazine! What I love about Easter? The new life--but especially the hope of new life after our time here. My first husband passed away (suddenly) three weeks before Easter ten years ago and I remember sitting at Easter Mass feeling a glimmer of hope. I needed that desperately. That hope has blossomed over the years.

Beautiful post. Oh, I would love to win that copy of the magazine. I have wanted JUST to see one. Have fun in the garden.
There isn't much about Easter I don't like..the bunnies, the flowers, the chocolate! but Easter to me and my family means celebrating the greatest gift of all, Jesus Resurrection and salvation.

That ostrich Easter egg is amazing! What I love most about Easter is the whole family getting together and doing something.

Wonderful spring pictures, dear Carole! Wonderful give-away! And THAT'S what it is about Easter that I love the most: Easter-time is spring-time! The world is awaking, trees blossom, there are new flowers, bees, butterflies, our cats are sprawling in the sun..., and all the nice Easter-rites!
Warm spring-hugs from Austria, Traude

Hi Carole,
Spring always means new beginnings and hope for the next year. Easter means a renewal of God's love and also the Easter bunny for my kiddos. I love seeing their faces when they wake up on Easter morning and find their Easter baskets.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend Carole!
Sincerely,
Melinda

Carole amor, I almost missed your lovely and soo generous Giveaway...but even worse, I missed all the beauty that is your blog...I always feel so serene when you share these beautiful pictures...I feel like that when I visit Junes, beautiful blog and she shares pictures of her gardens...I am not as Elequent as all these lovely ladies but Easter means all of that too me and a chance to be with family and enjoy moments with them that become memories for later years...like when my nephew was 2 and almost 7 months later they found a forgotten egg from the Easter Egg hunt in the garage...lol that explained the stink on hot days :) But also the Peeps...My stars I think I have gained 5 lbs eating them...and I am not picky at all...pink, yellow, green, doesn't matter, I eat them all, heads first without mercy :) I know...bad..but tastes ooh so yummy :) I hope that however you celebrate Easter, that you have a wonderful time doing it and savor those memories in coming years :) Missed visiting you :) Besos, Rose

Hi Carole! One of my favorite Easter traditions is the annual kite flying contest we have had at my parents house for years. The cousins have the egg hunt first and then the kites are in the air! My mom started this when the oldest kids were about 3 so it was actually a contest between us adults at first:) What a great giveaway, I have been wanting to flip through the pages of this magazine for a while now... so hope I win!! Thanks! Theresa
