Opening day at the Fleamarket

Last Sunday my friend Deanna asked if I wanted to go to the fleamarket.
I have so much to do this time of year that
I normally would have said no.
…..but the season is off to a slow start because the
weather isn’t warm enough for everyone.
I know I don’t understand it either:0
So I thought
yeah what the heck.

The place was sure hopping….more people then I’ve ever seen there
but it is the first one of the season.

you may recognize these…..old windows turned into little greenhouses.
Deanna has similar ones in her shop Gather in Ivoryton.
They’ve been selling really well.

I even  met a blogger and didn’t even know it.
You never know when you’ll be in the presents of one  : )
Actually Debra from Vintage Vixens  got to met her that day.
It wasn’t until I checked out Lisa’s blog that I recognized her booth.
You can go over to her blog….Serendipity Chic Design….and tell her I said hi.

This dealer sold mostly vintage toys.
Said he had done really well even by mid morning and had very little left to sell.

This must be an old box…….5 cents?
actually inside there were vintage egg cups.
Might have been cute for using at Easter time.
Now I think of it:)

Now the junk shopping was fun but the best part of the day
was our little tailgate picnic in the field where we parked.
We met up with some of Deanna friends at the end of our shopping.
Everything was delicious …
the cheeses, the baguettes, the olives, egg salad, string bean salad, salami and
homemade bread

and did I mention Champagne?
Yeah I could do this every week!
but alas I will be working every Sunday for awhile.
I hope my customers know what I’m giving up to be with them…(smile)
I’ll try to post what I bought soon.
(…first I have to get it out of my car.)

That's the way to eat! I am all for shopping with you! I take photos of flowers and food too. I once had a vendor get mad at me for taking a photo of his eggplants...can you imagine? ♥olive

I so want that vintage horse pulling the cart. It would be perfect for my front porch. Think he'll have it next time? (as if I'll get there, ha!) Looks like a beautiful and fun day but still chilly.

Now I can't wait to get home! :)
Although as many times as I have been there...
I have never had a tailgate party like that!
Glad you had fun...can't wait to see what you found! :)

Now that is the way to do a flea! What a fabulous tailgate picnic! Charming. Those dishes remind me of my Grandmas' set that took me years to complete ... those adorable scalloped edges.
I am so envious of fleas like that. We have nothing like it here. It's a 4 hr drive for me to CA fleas.

Have a great weekend girlfriend!

You got some great photos:) That is my friend Linda who was selling the vintage toys. She and Jim have the coolest things. Those are "my" flower guys lol who I just love. Lisa is adorable:) It looks like you had so much fun even afterwards;) So glad you were able to go. Can't wait to see what you picked up.

Hi Carole! You really know how to go to the flea market! I am going to have to show my flea market buddy over here and tell her we need to step it up a bit :)
I can't wait for ours to start, next month is the first of them and it's usually pretty cold still, but it takes more than that to deter us!Not that I NEED it but that industrial sewing machine would have been in my car if the price was right! xoxo

Picnic at the flea marktet - hey, that's a cool idea! Especially when food looks yummy and the picnic basket is so pretty :-). It looks like you had a fun day, Carole.
I'm sorry to hear that the business started slow this year. Hopefully spring will come soon to CT, so that the customers get into the mood for gardening.
Have a great weekend, my friend!
xoxo,
Julia

P.S. Nothing says open air market better than fresh flowers.

Hi Carole,
Well, you go to the BEST places. I would buy everything and end up bankrupt if I lived where you live. ......and, the end of the day was pretty good too. I think that you deserved a day out considering the hard work that is coming !! Hurry up and show us all of the lovely things that you bought.....I have a feeling that the cat doorstop might have come home with you !! XXXX

OMG!!! I am in shock for two reasons right now. One being that I am looking very awful in that photo!! LOL!!! I am going to have to shower this Sunday morning before the flea and actually do my hair now that I know people are taking a photo of me without me knowing...to funny!

Second, how funny is it that we met (sort of) and had no idea we would get to know each other.

If you go this Sunday be sure to stop by and say hi. I plan on vending weather pending. Also, PLEASE take a new picture of me so I can at least TRY to look a little better...hee hee

Take care,
Lisa

btw, did you take that pic when the lady was talking about her hydrangea???

Hi Carole
Well that's doing it in style.. I love that wire basket... you could shop from your friend's boot!!! [aussie speak for trunk]..

So you have the best flea's.. I must admit I haven't been to a 'market' here in a while.. some our great and some just average.. yet I think those east coast fleas always look filled to the brim with interesting things.

Look forward to seeing what you brought home.. in your boot!!

Have a great Sunday.. don't work too hard.. ciao xxxx Julie
