Brimfield

Remember when I told you that I was going to Brimfield the next day  (Thursday)?
ok maybe you don’t. Well when I woke up at 5am it was raining like crazy.
So I watched the weather channel and it was not looking good.
I kept thinking maybe in Massachusetts it’s not so bad….
ok it’s only an hour and a half away so how different could it be?
I decided to go back to bed.
Not a hard decision……I like sleeping.
By 9 am the weather cleared up and the sun was shining….not a cloud in the sky.
I thought I had made a terrible mistake.
No so…..
It turns out many of the fields were flooded out
and the May field that always opens on Thursday
couldn’t even open……..and that never happens.
Well Friday was a gorgeous day with the sun finally coming out around midmorning.

This  booth was shared by a few different ladies
all with amazing taste right up my alley. This booth filled up fast. I did a quick spin around and while I went around the corner
to go ask a price on a cool zinc container on this shelf it was already scooped up.
That happens to me a lot.

But I consoled myself with other things: )

I used to grow myrtle topiaries. Now I just grow them for myself.

This booth had some great letters and if I had thought of it
I could have cleverly written out something.

Love this metal cabinet.
Seeing it again now…. I should have gotten it
but when it’s still early in the day you just don’t know what’s around the corner.

I did get a great set of brown transferware from here that I’ll show you later.
George asked me why I needed more.
I didn’t have that pattern.

The button and ribbon lady that I showed you in the last post wasn’t there this time but
the ladies that have all those vintage tablecloths had her space and her regular one too.

This time she brought her buttons and ribbon to the show.
I looked at these for a long time and then realized that I have a ton of similar ones that
I bought at an estate sale a couple of years ago that I need to organize and change out the matting.
I keep meaning to show you. Maybe you can help me decide how I
should display them.
 Brimfield _70 sept 2011.
It was so hard to resist not buying more.
I did though get some great ribbon
in a color I hardly ever buy
Can you guess what color?

Joining up today for White Wednesday
Will be back with more of Brimfield on my next post.

I loved seeing your pictures of the show! I'll get there someday, but in the meantime it's nice to have a good peek! can't wait to see your new transferware.

Thanks for sharing the snap shots. I used to go but, haven't in 3 yrs. The gas, high prices and rumors of it going down hill. I do miss it but, don't miss the 3hr ride.
Maybe, next yr.

Hi Carole, I'm having flea market withdrawel symptoms and they get worse when I look at your pictures, sigh :-). There are lots of great things to see in your pictures. I can imagine that it was hard to resist buying more. A color you rarely buy? The ribbons must be white then, LOL.
Happy White Wednesday :-)!
Hugs to you,
Julia

Hi Carole
I hope you are well, I have not been browsing much as life has taken over somewhat but today I have a quieter day and am taking the opportunity to catch up a bit on some blog browsing.
I do love your photos, I always see things that I know I would have bought or wished to have bought had I been there. Like Julia, I was going to suggest white :-)
Take care

Great pictures as always:) That lady with the tableclothes let you take pictures??? She yelled at me last time. lol She is scary. Did you get the chalk paint???I did! I am so excited to try it. The nice woman there had $5.00 samples to sell so of course I had to buy four, right? Wish we met up. Happy you had a great time. It really was so much fun. Cant wait to next years:)

Carole you should have bought that little metal cabinet!(how's that for rubbing it in) I saw a few things I would have liked to squeeze into this place too. The buttons would have been my undoing.
I always love your beautiful photography!!!

Hi Carole ~ Yes, the rain was awful - but it was the last time I could get to Brimfield this year. So, poncho in hand - off we went. It kind of works if you just know you are going to get soaked. Plus I think the prices were a tad better because of it:) You have some great photos, love those topiaries. Thats the other bad thing, I couldn't bring my camera.

Hi Carole: I saw that booth too and tried to purchase some of the display pieces but they weren't parting with them...can't blame them! Love your blog.

Wow! LOVE these pictures!!! You did NOT get that cabinet?!?!!? Oh my whiskers!!!! "She" would have hurt anyone that came between "her" and that cabinet! I gotta tell you that even I like it - yep sure do. I could shut my squeaky little sister in there when she bothers me and I can't seem to get a decent catnap in. Yeah, yeah, I know I wouldn't really but a cat's gotta have fun. You didn't buy the cabinet?!?! Ouch.

Ribbon color that you would never buy?.....hmmm..."she" says white, I say black. Wouldn't you expect this though (totally opposite of what "she" says).

Glad you got to go. Can I come with next time? I don't take up much room....you would have to carry me though. Is thirteen pounds too much? I could cut back on the cat snacks.....

Purrs!

I have never been... I must do something about that!
Looks like a totally fun day, love the cabinet and the buttons.
I used to sell a ton of topiary's in the shop... the herbs I would have to sell fast before I killed them.
Can't wait to see what you bought!
