Pretties at Brimfield

Brimfield brings out all sorts of people.
I always think if I had more time and wasn’t so focused on all the great “stuff”
I could make a day of just photographing people.

I did stop and ask these lovely ladies if I could take their picture

They giggled but
were happy to oblige.

Shopping in style

Check out their boots!

coat

(Notice the cute kitty fabric and pin)

Using vintage fabrics this booth carried some wonderful handmade baby clothes.
We chatted for awhile. I was going to take her card but this was her last show.
She was retiring and going to enjoy traveling and taking it easy.

She did convince me that I need to go to Montreal.
The Europe of North America.
The last time I went I was a child visiting with my parents.
We stayed with friends and by the end of the trip I was speaking French with a Canadian accent
without even realizing it.

I digress.

linens

lace
This would have been so pretty with a simple skirting sewn along the edge.

I thought of it but I have so many unfinished projects as it is.

Using various hankies.

wall decor

This was a booth with all shabby chic accessories and furniture.

photo file

In the vain of all these candy colors is this photo file.
I loved the look of this but wasn’t sure I wanted to just store photos in it and
you couldn't remove them.

mantel

I loved this mantel but it really wasn’t a color I could use…..nor do I need a mantel  but I wanted it anyways.
I kept looking at it trying to figure out how I could use it,
but I never bought it.
Do you find yourself draw to thing that are not really your style?
or your colors?

green
Now this ribbon was almost the same color as the mantel.
Loved the way it was displayed.
That’s what made me notice them….
and of course that problem that I just mentioned

more green

box of ribbon

red ribbon

and then I saw the red ones.
At first I dismissed the thought of buying these.
They were red and I never buy red.
Ok not never…..but not for myself….but I do for the shop.

Right, I could buy it the Christmas shop.

ribbon tree

So I bought a few yards.
I have an idea of how I will use it.

We’ll see what happens.

Someone's eye was focused on aqua. That color is turning my head these days also. Those stacks of ribbon made me gasp, and the ladies..well..I must admit to a chuckle or two. They're a fun bunch for sure. :D
The mantel is/was fabulous.

Hi sweet Carole! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful shopping experiences with us!!! Those baby jackets remind me of Jackie Spicer's creations, was that her space? Jackie's beautiful sewing was featuring in Victoria magazine once and I drooled all over the pages! I hope you had a wonderful time sweet friend, sending you hugs and love, Dawn

Hi Carole,
So much stuff....so little space !! I always want everything, normally BECAUSE of the way that it's displayed and then, when I think about it, I really don't need it or want it. You have to be quite careful don't you, otherwise you just end up with a whole lot of stuff and nowhere to put it !!!!I always have to be a little restrained, which is very difficult for me !!
So many lovely things....I also love the mantle but, I have one in nearly every room in our house so I wouldn't have needed it.
I think that the red ribbon will be great at Christmas and you will do something wonderfully creative with it so, that was a good buy.
I love the way that those ladies have gone to so much trouble to look so good. Well done them !
Hope all's well with you and yours Carole and speak soonXXXX

I think the ladies in feathers have the right idea... go with like minded fun people (who will then probably talk you into buying things like aqua mantels)! What a great bunch of ribbon, I can't wait to see what your idea is for the red. And in answer to your question, yes I am drawn to things that don't fit my style but then I am easily distracted by so many pretty things :) t. xoxoxoxooxoxo

I want to shop with those girls! They probably have the best time together. When I went to Farm Chicks a couple of years ago I went with two of my girlfriends, and while the shopping was fun, it was the eating, sleeping and driving together that was a blast about it all. (even if my friend is a lousy driver...all eleven hours of it):0

oh Carole, did you have to show me those wonderful red ribbons? I am turning green with envy. Now you know how much I LOVE red.
What beautiful things again at Brimfield!
Did you go by yourself? Those girls looked ready for anything.
I am still dealing with my terrible upper back. After 6 weeks, I am running out of patience.
Hope you show us more of your day at Brimfield.
Hugs, Evi

Hi Carole, The ladies look great. They certainly had fun.
I know what you mean. I also find things or colors pretty that are not my actual taste for decorating our home.
That crocheted thingy is gorgeous. I also like that photo cabinet but wouldn't want to use it for pictures either.
Have a wonderful week :-)!
Hugs to you,
Julia

p.s. just curious...how much was that mantle??

Carole, the pearl ladies are too cute. The mantle looks like several in our ole house-chippy and colorful. The ribbon is pretty stacked like that no matter the color. I would need so much restraint to shop at such a place or a vat of Valium. hugs♥O

There is not one thing in this post that I don't LOVE!!! Vintage fabrics make me drool...I wish I had someone else's little one around to sew for now that you've planted that seed in my brain this morning. The ribbons are to die for, too...will definitely be showing this to my ribbon source here. And, the boots made my whole morning - those ladies look fabulous! Have a great rest of the week, Carole...Tanya

Loved your Brimfield posts. How are their prices? We pretty much found ourselves choking at how high they were at Round Top. It was like they came and bought in Oklahoma then took it to Texas and doubled the prices. Some things are worth it though! Especially for ourselves!

LOVE Brimfield!
And love your pics of it.
I missed the ribbons, they're to die for.
Curious, do you live in Maynard?
I live in Stow, that's why I just had to ask.
And, seeing Swedish blogs on your blog roll makes the Swede in me curious as well.

Have a great one!
