Little Gems

I knew this post was somewhere ^#!(?
I was looking for it everywhere the last couple of days.
Took this photos back in April and posted it on Live Writer.
Since the new blogger format I haven’t used it.
I know so many of you don’t like the new Blogger format and I don’t like all
it’s features either but I like the way the photos load faster
and you can move them around.

This year I made a lot of succulent pots in cups and mini teapots.

Interesting because almost everyone who came in early in the season ewwed and ahhed over them but they weren’t selling.

I didn’t find the need to rush to photograph them all.
I’ll do it later I kept thinking.

Then it seemed suddenly they were all gone
I shouldn’t be complaining…….that’s why I made them but I just wished I had taken the time to photograph them.
For you and for me :)

This one I did keep for myself. It’s in an aged fiberglass shell. I made it last year and kept it in the mudroom at home on a shelf George made in front of the small window. I have it there now but may change it for a terrarium I made this spring.
I really love making these succulent containers up more then anything else.

What’s your favorite planter this year?

Had trouble uploading this post from Live Writer so had to
copy and paste.

Ok now I guess I'm not as fond of Live Writer.
Will try posting from there another time and see if it
was just a glitch.
Anyone else out there use Live Writer?

Stay Cool!

I adore succulents any have them all over my garden and I can leave them out all year. Yours are charming and no wonder they were bought up. I used LW but now Blogger only and I like it just fine.

Dear Carole, I love succulents, too, and have some in my garden.
I never tried to grow them inside.
Yours looks so wonderful in the old cups and teapots, and so wonderfully fresh and green. Love the red/green one in your second last photo.
Hope you are a bit more relaxed now:-)
Hugs and love,.Dorthe

Hi Carole,
I love succulents too.....I have a large terracotta bowl/planter on our garden table which is 'dripping' with them and, a rusty, iron urn with them in. I also have three old chimney pots planted with them as well. I love the way that they hang over the sides and the lovely flowers that some of them have. Yours look wonderful. I'm suprised that they didn't get bought within minutes of you putting them out.
I don't mind the new Blogger format ...... I find it easier actually. I am getting used to my MacBook Pro but, I'm waiting for all of my photos etc. from my old computer to be transfered to my new one ! That's why I haven't posted for a while.
Hope you are all well Carole and will email soon ..... PROMISE !! XXXX

Yes Carole....I have become enamored with succulents too...although I remember a time when I thought they were kind of ugly...not I love the texture and how interesting they look. So...do they need any special soil or care? Do tell...my talented friend! :)

Hello Ms Carole!
OK... I LOVE your arrangements with the succulents... LOVE china! 'bee-utiful! But, it is ironic, a group of us, Master Gardeners at that, stood around talking just this week about the struggles of growing them! I personally have never had any for much time at all... I grow plenty of other plants... know they aren't particular about the soil in fact like drier not so fertile.. but maybe I don't do enough to them or do too much!
Amazing how some people, my grandma and aunt, in part. would just fill up an old container with clay soil, stick in a few and off they went .. and for YEARS they thrived!
Sadly my gran'ma is gone, and just a few months ago my dad gave me a trough filled with them. I am not doing anything to them ...!!! not moving them from their container, tho the pot is cracking and breaking, doing nothing to the soil and just quickly run water over them as I water the other plants. .. tee hee, (as gran'ma would say!)... luckily, they have survived these last few months with me!!! : )
Hope you have been feeling a little more peaceful and rested!!!
Still praying for you!
Blessings~

Hi Carole! I have used it a couple of times, but I guess I was just too used to Blogger, because I didn't stay with it.

I love your teeny plants and containers. WOW! and the photos of them are beautiful. SO glad you kept a planter for yourself. These would make such lovely hostess gifts or little thank you's to a friend.
Can you believe I'm still buying plants for the garden this year? I keep finding holes in the beds that I guess I just think have to be filled up : ) I found one of those strawberry hydrangeas ( I can't remember the real name) but they are similar in bloom to the Limelight only turn pinkie red as they age (but I bet you already know about them) The reason I am so excited about it is that the nurseries here get kind of stuck in a rut and never carry anything new, so when I went to Boise last week I went to a new nursery I had never been to and they carried a ton of different hydrangeas that are hardy to zone 4.
sending hugs...

Beautiful photos! I'm loving succulents too. I love their subtle colors and the variety of textures they have. I don't have a green thumb so they're easy enough for me to grow!

Hi Carole what dear little cups and teapots filled with those succulents - your photography is fantastic too.
They are so easy to care for which is a blessing and they give us so much as well as making great little gifts.
Keep cool as we keep warm!
I'm pruning roses at present and up to about 35 of our 87 bushes.
Hugs,
Suzy

Hi Carole,
I love succulents and think you can never go wrong with them as they are so forgiving. Yours look divine in the teacups and I like them in old silver, too.

I use Live Writer all the time. I have since the beginning. I just occasionally update it as required. I've never had problems. Maybe you should uninstall and install it again?? Don't know. Anyway......love the succulents. I've never tried growing any.

Carole, I love succulents too! I have them everywhere. They are one of few plants that make it to August here in Texas. My favorite planters this year are old chicken feeders and a hollowed log that I use as a patio table. I had hen and chicks bloom this year. I haven't seen that before! How do you winter your succulents? I do not have a greenhouse. Would a garage with bright light be ok?
Love your photos!
