In reviewing these photos from Sunday when I got an hour away work makes me
realize what a beautiful little town Old Saybrook is. Sometimes I just need a reminder. It's quiet most of the time except in the Summer. The population doubles then but we locals are used to it. It's what you have to expect in a town along Long Island Sound and the Connecticut River. I think we are descendants of fish....we are all drawn to the water. George and I don't actually go to the beach or sail or boat but I have always lived near the water and can not imagine living anywhere else. The thought gives me a panicky sense. Like a little claustrophobic. I need a way out! Not that I could swim to safety or anything so it really makes no sense at all. I digress.
Every year I try to check out Pat's from Headlines ( a hair stylist in town) She always has such an impressive window box and always in whites, blues, pink and purple. She buys all her plants from us. And yes that's me in the reflections. Now if you think you really missed something you didn't. Maybe someday I'll show myself more.....or not.
I'm supposed to be making blueberry muffins for hubby.
No none for me I'm on a 1200 calorie diet getting helped by an app called My Fitness Pal. It's easy, you just enter everything you eat in your day and it keeps track for you. It will scan any bar code on a product. It's been 3 weeks and I've lost 7 lbs. I haven't had a swim suit in years and threw away the ones I thought I might someday fit into again. Maybe this will be the year I buy a new one....of course by then their won't be any left in the stores.

What gorgeous planting Carole ...... you live in a very pretty town and to be by the sea must be lovely.
..... and well done, losing 7lbs. That's brilliant.
...... I have already shed a tear whilst watching a sneak preview of the Opening ceremony, got quite emotional when I watched a compilation of the Torch Relay and had a lump in my throat this morning when the flame was taken to the Tower of London on the Royal rowing boat The Gloriana !!! We will be sat in front of the television at 7,00 p.m to watch the build up to the Opening Ceremony at 9.00 p.m with wine, food and a big box of tissues!!
Enjoy the Opening Ceremony Carole and George. XXXX
OH Carole,
from the look at you in the window , you do not need to loose any lbs.You looks so slimm and fit, dear.
As for your town I can see it is beautifully kept, and styled, looking so pretty all over. I love the madonna figures. Here in Denmark we very seldom see them, only if you go to the Catholic Cementaries,of which there are not many.
Happy week-end to you- Smiles and hugs,Dorthe
I love you I hate you..Pretty pics of your town and flowers make me jealous..I love you I hate you

OS really is a lovely town... Main St. especially has a charm all it's own, with something for everyone.
I have travelled all the way from Italy to come to Old Saybrook (well, to New England actually and landed up there ;))! Remember I told you a few years ago?
Thanks for sharing these pics!
Hugs,

Beautiful pictures. I love all the different colors of the flowers. I hope you are enjoying your summer.
Very lovely Carole. Sometimes we need to pause and take a closer look at our beautiful towns. A thanks for sharing yours. I always need to be near water too. Living in a river town it is just a part of life that I couldn't do without.
I love fitness pal. Between that and the Sonoma diet I have been feeling healthier and getting smaller( slowly but surely). The health bit is the important part but the smaller part makes me happy, haha.
Beautiful photos Carole! Again! I need you to give me lessons because I never seem to be able to capture things quite the way you do. It's all in how we look at things I suppose. Which means you have a good eye. And me? Well I must be half blind ;) My favorites are the purple globe flowers (yeah I know very technical name)up close with the brick wall behind them. And the second favorite is the angel statue! Thanks for allowing me to tag around, especially since I would not otherwise know where to look :) I hope you had a great weekend!
Hugs,
"Her" and Romeo
P.S. I agree with Dorthe - your reflection does not indicate any excess weight, lose any and there might not be any reflection at all!
Carole, I love the pictures of the flowers! So pretty!
Congrats on your weight loss! I am going to download the app!
Wow! 7 lbs? It seems the more I exercise, the more I gain. I'll have to check this site out! :)
Hugs,
Zuzu
