I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Christmas day. Ours was just the perfect quiet day just the two of us at home. I finally got to decorate the tree that we put up on Christmas Eve.
Down to the wire this year.
We always have 2 trees. I knew early on that I was going to decorate the one in the family room in turquoise, silver and white instead of the usual silver and white.
Luckily I had some vintage glass ornaments in blue and turquoise……even some blue santas that I got from Cody Foster a few years ago. He does a whole vintage look that comes in all these candy colors….so fun and different! I don’t like all of it but I do like some of the pastels….and especially the sea blue colors. The family room has soft green painted walls. It never occured to me before that I should decorate the tree in a blue color scheme. The couch is even shades of green and grey.
I do want to change the color of the walls in that room. It’s been this color way too long. Maybe 12 yrs. or so.....I think it's overdo. Not an easy room to paint….walls are too high. I know I should not be complaining. If I had low ceilings I’d be complaining it was too closed in:)))
Well, for now I'm pretty happy with the theme change of the Christmas tree.
I redid the whole mantel....even added some vintage napkins layed across the whole front. I really should have ironed them first but hey I am on Christmas day finally doing this....I'm burning daylight fast here.
Had to keep moving!!!
This Santa's eyes are a little shifty but hey he's BLUE
and I think he looks great on the mantel.
Bought these pipecleaner Santa's at a thrift store this year... 3 of them actually....goofy but cute!
Ok...not sure why I wanted to show you this picture.....maybe to prove to you that I have a sense of humor, don't take myself too seriously, or that I have no fashion sense????
The real reason is that I have hated (hate is such an ugly word....disliked) this hat since we were sent it by a Christmas tree supplier. My husband has never worn it in all these years yet there it was sitting on a shelf..... forever!!!!! I finally tried throwing it out this year. Yes I threw it out!!! and my husband retrieved it. He says he likes it but he never wore it this year either.
So on Christmas day I wore it.........all day! It actually gave us a good laugh and I think it's going to be a Maynard tradition from now on.
You can't really tell from this picture but the red is much more neon then it shows.
It's really gaudy!!!
I look like Wilson from the show "Home Improvement" in this picture.....avec camera and sans stockade fence!!!:)))
Ok enough of me.....back to the decorations!
Smaller version of the bigger Santa.
This is one of my favorite ornaments bought at my friend Ginny's a long time ago. He looks like a clown to me but I suppose he's really suppose to be a snowman. You decide?
Christoper Radko ornament I bought for George a long time ago. We were suppose to buy one for each other every year.....but that fizzled out a few years into that idea. They no longer are in business. I forget now what he's doing but I do remember reading that he would never get back into the Christmas ornament business again.
Ok well I still have tons of decorating to do. I told you I decorate my house after Christmas.....strange I know.
Still have one more tree to finish and I'll show you that one unless you're getting tired of Christmas things and really can't take anymore.
I could save them til next year..........

Love the tree and the blues! I always love to do something different every year or so. I envy your array of ornaments...they have such great character. Please post your progress...I never get tired of Christmas stuff.

Oh I loved it all, even " Wilson"! So glad you took the time to show us. Happy holidays. Thanks for coming by and yes I am feeling better. Sharon
Love your blues - such a nice change from the typical red. Looks great! Merry Christmas!
Everything is so pretty. I sure wish I had some of those ornaments! Christmas trees and all holiday decor always seem to look better at night. What other decor can you say that about?
Hi Wilson! oops, i mean Carole of course! too funny...you are just teasing us with the partial self portrait! well, your decorations are beautiful and i just love the touches of blue (always been my fave color since i was a little girl). of course i would love to see more of the room...pretty please! here's hoping you can slow down a bit now at work? and enjoy the coming new year!

I loved seeing all of your Christmas decorations. The mantle with all of your vintage items was lovely and I really loved the turquoise ornaments! Sounds like you had a very relaxing Christmas day!!

HI Carole
Merry Merry Christmas [again he he]
Your tree is just beautiful and being the Blue lover that I am it would be just perfect for me!! i think it's a great idea to decorate from Christmas day on as this is the time you can really relax and enjoy it.! I know I never seem to get any time before Christmas and then just don't bother but this is much better. I have to say Shifty Santa is my favourite!! You're right he does look a little shifty but hey anyone that breaks into your house in the middle of the night has to be a little shifty right?
The other thing I love is the mantle!! Oh how I would love to have a mantle. I nearly rented a house purely because it had this huge fireplace and mantle!! You have decorated yours so wonderfully. In fact the whole house [from what I can see] looks like a Christmas wonderland including that elf in the red beanie!! he he So Wilson what words of advice to you have for us all?
Well enough from me .. May your 'after Christmas' be merry and bright!!! xxx Julie
Sounds like you had a relaxing Christmas. I love all your ornaments and thanks for sharing your decorating. Everything is beautiful!
Wishing you a very blessed New Year.

Love that hat, Carole. Yes, I think it needs to be a "tradition". Your "blues" are gorgeous, and I love the tree. I know how you feel about change, but I really love that green on your walls. Everything looks beautiful!
Have a great week!
Debra
Dear Carole,
Your tree is lovely, and that Christmas tree hat looks really nice on you, too!
Hope you're enjoying your holiday season and are able to relax after your decorating is finished.
Stay warm!
Love,
Franny :+)
P.s.
Love, love, LOVE the turquois/aqua!
It's so Yummy!

Your tree is very pretty! Love all of your ornaments! And the "Wilson picture"! LOL! Maybe you should leave your trees up all year. I do that at my beach house, since we're not there much. Saves alot of work. Then, when you change color schemes, you only have to take a few off. Just a thought. *<;o)
Hi Wilson, eh Carole, I still can enjoy pictures of Christmas decoration and your tree looks beautiful! I love your color choice and you have such a wonderful collection of Santa and snowmen ornaments! I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures of your Christmas decoration! Do you still have snow? Over here it's gone in the meanwhile.
Hugs,
Julia

Hi Carole,
Your house is delightful and I loved seeing all your beautiful decorations. Your photos are always so gorgeous. Glad that you had a perfect Christmas.
I have a green lounge room that needs decorating too.
We went as far as getting colour charts from the Hardware shop. It will be such a big job taking everything out ~ gentle sigh.
Happy holidays and wishing you the very best New Year and a wonderful year ahead.
Hugs
Carolyn
Carole you are the first person I've met (so to speak) that does this the right way. We shouldn't decorate until Christmas and keep it up until Epiphany. I do decorate early but we keep it up. It makes me sad when people wisk the decorations away. And, I love your Wilson picture! That was one of our favorite shows, even in the reruns.
Hi Carole~
Oh do show us more! I decorate after Christmas too. I love putting out all the things that I have that are white for the rest of the winter.
Happy New Year!
LuLu~*
Hi Carole,
Your Mantel and tree are so beautiful! YOu have the most unique ornaments. I love the color combination too. Happy New Year!

What a beautiful posting and blog. Hope you don't mind if I become a new follower. I'm going to poke around and see all that I missed.
Stop by my garden anytime and visit with me and my gang. Ok, so we have a lot of snow now, but just wait till this summer...

Dear Carole,
I am so leased to hear that you had a lovely restful Christmas Day and that you can take it easy for a while.
Your decorations look brilliant as I knew they would and I don't think that there is a space left on your tree for another ornament. My favourite is the pine cone bauble.
Thanks for all of your wonderful comments and emails in 2009 and hope that we have more of the same in 2010. Lots of love. XXXX
Carole, okay now i want Christmas to start all over again seeing your FAB photos!!!!!!!
just popping in to say Happy New Year to Come!
