SNOW DAY

Sunshine snow_22January 2011
The whole nations has been blanketed in snow (well every state but 2)
and Connecticut is no exception.
Now I have to say that I was getting confused as to why we were
the only ones not getting any snow.

decolored
Well the lesson here is
watch what you WISH for!!!
dirty snow
I didn’t go out with a tape measure but I’m thinking 15” or so and
according to the weather men it’s more snow
that we’ve had in 15 years from one storm.
More coming this weekend!!!!!
driveway
The day after the big snowfall I took pics just to record for posterity
but as you know pics taken on a “no sun” day are a little flat.

Notice the weight of the snow pulling apart this arborvitae.

fdoor
It’s been in the single digits at night….bbbrrrr
but during the day the sun has been shining for the most part so the icicles have been such a bonus.

The yard even looks better with snow blanketing all the forgotten clean up.

Nigella watching George as he labors outside with the snow blower.
( yes that’s the tree on the left….
and still as fresh as when she came in)

She’s happy to be spending time in this sun drenched room especially now that Mom
took down the curtains in there for cleaning and decided it looked better
without them.
living room shot
Loving the sunshine in that room.
Tried using a bit of red this year but not sure I liked it.
I’m not as good with red as my friend Evi
Yes like I said still have our tree up but I won’t bore you with Christmas decorations…..
just a few silly candy canes.
I know 95% of you have packed it away.
I will too soon and then replace it with Valentines Day décor.

couch
It’s been great to use this room again. We really ignore it
the rest of the time so we’re making a point of having coffee in the morning or tea at night here.
That under used room that we wonder why we have until
NOW.
Do you have a favorite room?

You have made it so lovely Carole. You show us all of your friends beautiful homes but, I think that yours is up there with all of them. My special request is that you should show us some more of your fantastic home. Sorry but, under blogging law, you have to !! haha. XXXX

The photo of your house would be a splendid Christmas card next year! We enjoy our den at the yellow house where we build a fire and in the summer we live on the deck. At the old house we will take any room that is warm!

Looks like here! I still have candy canes in a copper mug on the window sill! Not peppermint though!
Too much snow for me, but no one asked me!

Hi Carole ~ beautiful winter wonderland photos! We got around 2 feet of snow here last Wednesday with a bit o' melting the next day. Deep freeze is on though...even today's bright sunshine couldn't warm us up!

Your house is beautiful, Carole! I like snow as long as I'm not in surrounded by it ;-). So I really enjoy looking at your wonderful pictures. Don't you just love icicles? They are so pretty. The b+w editing turned out great. The picture got such an antique look like it came from a photo album of your grandma. How can you ignore that lovely room??? It looks so cozy and inviting. I love all your beautiful pillows and that wire piece in the background. I would never want to leave that couch.
Cecil just tells me that it's high time for his breakfast. I better go feed him ... :-).
Have a great Sunday, dear friend!
Hugs to you,
Julia

Love the snow pics..and I am glad I am not there! Ha! Not a fan of snow for sure!
Your pics are fabulous! And, to make you feel better, my Christmas decor is still up and I am proud of it. It too will remain until I start doing Valentine's Day decor. It took me four or five weeks to get all the Christmas stuff up...no way I am taking it down so quickly!!
Besides, I love me the Christmas tree lights at night!! Love love love it!

Hard to believe anything so beautiful could be so treacherous as snow...'cause it is breath taking...which BTW...so is your home. I'm with Olive...that's a Christmas card just itching to be printed!

P.S. Nigella sure is one beautiful supervisor!

Hey Carole, what a treat to see your beautiful house....love it! I can't imagine 15" of snow...you've certainly captured it's beauty. Are you able to get out?

Looks like kitty is content to be inside and warm. Well stay warm and enjoy your lovely room. I guess my favorite room is my living room, but my home is so small, there's not a lot of choices!

Your pictures are gorgeous... loved seeing your home, I knew it would be wonderful.
The snow looks awesome but sooo much work. We hardly have any on the ground maybe a couple of inches but it has been cold. I am ok with it this year, gives me a little time to catch my breath and cocoon. Well, clean anyway.
Blessings this Sunday to you

Yeeeeaaaaa LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your home!!!! (And don't worry I won't say a word to George;) Your winter pics are great. I think the red looks so pretty against the white. I still have candy canes too:) They will probably be here until Easter. I heard 30 inches of snow on Friday. I hope its just a sick joke because I don't know where we will put it:)

I have an unfavorite room. I love all the rooms in my house...but the extra bedroom (used to be sewing room) is in limbo and I hate going in there seeing the mess. If I had a favorite room, it would be the livingroom. So calm in there, and unlike our family room...it is always clean.
Your snowy picks are just dreamy. Your home is gorgeous!!! Inside and out!
Soon enough the snow will be gone and you will be able to do the clean up then. lol! It always manages to wait for us.
I am loving the JAL issue so much! Thank you!

Beautiful snow pics, Carole......but I know as well as you, it looks prettier from inside the house by the fire.

Craigslist is a real hit or miss for me. Believe me, I worked for this cupboard.....I was only looking for about 6 months and there was either nothing or too high. I stopped looking for a while and then this one appeared the next time I tried. I think you have to be very persistent and I don't always have the time.

BTW, I received my magazine yesterday and enjoyed thumbing through it last night. Thanks for helping me with mt "junk" fix...hahahaha.

Take care,

Kathleen
