Zipper flowers

Just a little post to share this zipper craft with you.
I found it on the Martha Stewart website.
I signed up for emails from them awhile ago and get one everyday.
I don't look at all of them but this one seemed interesting.

If you’re like me you hold on to too much stuff with the thought that you
will reuse it sometime. This is a good way to put old zippers to good use, because do you really think you’re
going to make a garment and sew a zipper in it? Well, there was a time I
did do that…..but no more.
The website had instructions that were good but I don't know how
you are, but I’m not always good with instructions
so I recommend watching the video.
Find instructions and video

Now I have to get back to working on my perennial preorder for Spring.
Can’t wait too long or all the good stuff will be taken.
I'd rather be making zipper flowers:)

But I am having fun looking back at pictures of the perennial farms Open House I attended last Fall.
I panicked at first that I couldn’t find my notes and then remembered I had photographed the
plants and the tags telling me the name.
That's important to do or I'd have no idea of the variety now.
It's easier!
Click click…. done!
I may bore you with the pics of the plants I’m ordering.
The hard part for me is decided what to show so I may just
barrage you with lots of them.
The coneflowers they grew were incredible.
So many new varieties that it’s a bit overwhelming.
I bought a few new echinaceas for the garden but I left them out where
everyone could see them and they
got all bought up.( that's not good English I know)
All you have to do is say they are not for sale and
everyone wants them:)

Ok now get some zipper flowers made.

ZIP ZIP!!!

Hi Carole! I received my JDL yesterday and oh my gosh, I keep looking at it in small doses, it is gorgeous and I want to relish it! Thanks! Hannah wants to make zipper flowers so I will have to show her the site. I just saw your last post about the snow, my kids are still waiting for that kind of snow! We keep getting told we are going to get a big storm but then 2 -4 inches at best. bummer. But like you said... becareful what you wish for! Have a great week! Theresa xoxo

Very cute. I am not a great seamstress, so no extra zippers. Buttons, yes, tons of them! :)

I only managed to put in three zippers during Home Ec and then managed to stitch right through my thumb on the last one breaking the needle off IN my thumb. 8th grade Peters Township Jr High. Since then, never tried another..this may make me give the evil zippy things another chance : D

Thanks for the fun link! I would be happy to look at any flower/garden pictures you feel like posting. I miss some of my old tried and true Midwest flowers.

Hi Carole, These zipper flowers are very pretty and I'm sure it's much for fun to make them than to sew zippers in a garment or a pillow cover :-).
Have a lovely day, dear friend!

Carole -
These are adorable - who would have thought! I bought a dress recently that had zippers used as trim - I thought that was pretty cool - but his is the hands down winner! Thanks for sharing such a great idea!

Hi Carole,
What a fantastic idea....it seems to me that good old Martha can make something beautiful out of anything.!!!! They are so effective. I know that I have zips somewhere, thinking that I will use them when a zipper breaks but, I know that they will never see the light of day !! They are never going to see a needle and thread anyday soon !!
You do show us some great things Carole. XXXX

Hi C ~ those are really neat. You may as well go ahead and make more zipper flowers, there is no possible way to get any gardening done this weekend. Im ready to give up my New Englandership now. Stay toasty my friend.

Hi Carole
The zipper flowers are so clever... I'm always hoarding stuff.. just in case.. arrggh... trying to downsize that this week.. which is why I am so slow to visit ppl..

So.. whenever I take shots of flowers.. I always think of you.. took one last night at beach... no idea what it is.. hahaha.. I also always think.. 'Carole Will Know!!'.. hehe...

Have a great weekend.. ciao xxxx Julie
