Inspiration

I know this is suppose to be a blog about gardening and our business but I have a tendency to want to get off that subject. Probably why I don't post that much. I think if I looked at it from a gardening stand point I would get more excited but I so rarely get a chance to do any gardening. A couple of years ago I decided I was making myself nuts trying to do it all....work 7 days a week 12-14 hrs a day and have an amazing garden to boot. Most times when I tell a customer about what I've planted at home they say "when do you have time to garden?" "I don't " but I do it because I love it. Plus isn't that one of the perks of owning your own greenhouse business. You get to keep the "good stuff". What we do is nothing like gardening. It's planting in small 3"-6"pots and when I have time some larger containers. Whooopppii!!!! Not planting in actual soil where the plants get to show off it's true potential and beauty.
Lately my attention has been mixed media art or should I say looking at mixed media art by "other" people. My favorite magazines are from Stampington Studios....mostly Somerset magazine. They have some the most inspiring pictures. The first time I saw this magazine I couldn't believe what I saw....it was filled with the most beautiful bizarre, modern, antique, vintage, retro, glittsy, pretty and feminine object d'art I'd ever seen. I couldn't believe it had been out there and no one had told me about it. How could that be. Of course after I'd found it I went around showing it to everyone. I was a little disappointed when their reaction was less than I expected. Why weren't they jumping up and down and screaming OH MY GOD!!!!!! This is amazing. Getting more excited with every turn of the page. Some people just don't get it and that's alright I guess. It's just so fun to find someone who loves the same things you like. I'm luck to have some friends that love the same things I do whether it's gardening or art crafts. Well anyways my point is that I need to get reconnected with my core business which is selling plants with the same excitement that I feel for this new art form. Not sure how to do that. But I know I need to start soon.... Spring is coming!

Carole! I sooo know what you mean about being inspired by the magazines...and trying to find kindred spirits who "get it"! It was wonderful to spend the afternoon with you at Evi's. We all loved your crown and were impressed by your talents!I can't wait till next time!
