The many looks of Silver

One thing I've learned about myself besides loving the color silver is that I love to alter pictures!!! much like my friend Julie from Being Ruby. We both enjoy seeing objects in a different way. She.... unlike me writes beautifully and just as her words envelope you like a warm comfy blanket she'll shift gears and make you laugh like a stand up comic. Stop by and see her post this week for Silver Sunday. It's Sunday earlier in Aussie land then here the U.S. of A.  See what you learn blogging!!!

Ok, enough of the mushy stuff!!!!
do yourself a world of good and go see her and of course our lovely hostess of Silver Sunday Beth who will direct you to all the other participants of SS.

I just recently started using Picasa since I've been a little leary to download the other program I used to use.
It doesn't have the same features by a long shot but it'll do for now til I figure out what to get.

These were a few things I had around the shop.

I'm embarrassed to say I haven't put all the Christmas things away. I'm working on it and I've done a lot of packing up but it's still pretty festive around here.

                                                                                                 ( blue tint)

( warm effect)

George finally got these knobs mounted on this wooden board. This color was what the shop was painted until we changed it to gray. I had seen this color on an old cape near here and would drive by it all the time. I would drive by slowly while holding the small paint chip out the window. Crazy right??? but I couldn't bring myself to stop and get out. For those of you who know me by now .....you're nodding your heads!!!

( sepia)

( I think B&W but maybe tinted tan)

( tinted green and glow effect)

( over highlighted and then shadowed)

Can you tell I really like this meshed flower???:)) I showed it 5 times!!! sorry

( out of focus effect)

Well thank you for letting me indulge my fun for photo editing!!!

I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed doing it.

I also had fun last week getting to visit most of the other SS bloggers. I loved seeing all your gorgeous collections of silver....whether vintage, new, shiny, tarnished, painted, zinc, pewter or gray.....it's all good!!!!
Thanks for coming by and now go visit all the talented ladies of Silver Sunday

Love all your silvers. I especially love the little wire edged flowers. I think that one of the nice things about a white/silver palette for Christmas is that it will work through January.

All of these pictures look wonderful. I've seen Picasa and I think you told me about another program, but I still haven't tried either. I'm still trying to get the hang of blogging down a little better, and there seem to be so many of these programs out there. I just don't know which one to use. I love the effects you got with this and I enjoyed all of your silver items. Those mesh flowers are wonderful.
Blessings,
Marcia

Love those knobs! AND those mesh flowers are super duper cute.
As long as we're confessing, I still have some X-mas on the front porch! I keep forgetting about it. Hubby said today "for some reason I keep wanting to sing X-mas songs when I come in the front door." All right I get it, I get it. Guess I better get them down tomorrow.
Your photos look great. I've never tried Picasa before.

Wonderful post, Carole! I love the mushromms and the wired flowers. The knobs are gorgeous! I can see you driving by that cape holding out the paint chip. Could have been me too ;-).

There may be an alternative to Photoscape for you. Hubby downloaded Paint.net a couple of days ago. It's free too and there weren't any warnings coming up. It has a lot of cool features and tools, almost like Photoshop and it seems that you can even use Photoshop brushes which you can download for free also. Maybe it's worth a try.
Have a great Sunday!

Julia

I love all the special effects you have created with your photos. Seeing something up close gives it so much more prominence. I especially like the knobs mounted on the wood pieces. You are so funny. I could just see you driving around and holding up paint chips. In my neighborhood they would have already called the po-lice on you!HA.
Happy Silver Sunday. I'm glad you commented on my blog because now I know all about you. You have a great blog and I'm going to follow you.
I'll be back often.

Hi Carole,
Sorry I'm late. I'm having computer trouble.
What great photographs with such brilliant effects. I think that you've given us a bit of everything !! I think that my favourite effect is highlighted then shadowed..... and I like the jaunty angle that you have taken it at.
I love reading your text too. You don't realise how good you are at so many things. XXXX

Great photos and wow !!!! You carry my door knobs. that didn't sound right. But the small mercury glass pulls you feature. I bought a few - need more - and more than a few people have posted to ask where I got them. I bought the last 4 - but now I know where to direct them. Happy Silver Sunday.

All of your pictures are great (I would have shown the wire flower 5 times too!) If I started playing around with picasa my hubby would have me committed! He says since I started my blog I am ALWAYS on the computer! Really that's just because before I really didn't have a reason to be on it! Have a great week! ~Theresa

So lovely, thanks. Using only Picasa has its advantages...it's sort of like making do with what one has frees you. I can't explain at moment but as you see, you did beautifully. Enjoying the Silver Sundays very much.

Picasa isn't too bad, but you can't layer, which seems to be pretty hot these day. However, it has some excellent features and is definitely better than nothing!

Good luck with the CD. Take some tutorials on eBay and start learning ; )
