NEST

Welcome to Silver Sunday hosted by Gypsy Fish Journal.

One of my favorite shops of all time is NEST of Mystic, Ct.

George and I had gone there right before New Years but since my computer died a couple days later I had to wait to show you. I think you'll see it was worth the wait and is full of lots of silver!!!
The day we were there Marcia the owner was too. She's the one on the left. George is on the middle....I had to blur out his face....he's such a pain and doesn't want to be on my blog....but I wanted to show you this picture.

The lovely lady on the right is her manager but.....I feel so bad I don't remember her name( forgive me) she was so nice too and when I asked if Marcia was in and introduced myself she burst out that she knew me from my blog. You can imagine how thrilled I was and a little embarrassed that I hadn't dressed better.......I know....... silly!!!

It was due to her that Marcia came in at Christmas time to pick up copies of Jeanne d'Arc Living. Funny how things like that can bring us together.
They were both so sweet and generous with their time when we came that day and we "talked shop" a bit comparing notes as to what were the big sellers and the things that we were surprised didn't move as well.

We both agreed that looking at blogs and keeping up with the trends is vital to both of us. We both seemed to be attracted to the same things.

You'll see that there isn't much that anyone wouldn't want in the store. She has some of the best displays I've ever seen. She had already sold so much of her Christmas decorations after running a sale but the sparkle and magic is still there.

Marcia and her staff shop all year for the perfect items to bring to your home and to present as gifts.

This black shelving unit really makes the silver pop and the zinc items look even better.
Makes for a chic look.

Not too sure why this image came out so blurry. I had edited these before I lost my editing program so I'll leave it.

The shop has always been filled with white and silver ethereal treasures and especially during the holidays it really comes to life. At every turn there is something else that amuses the eye.

The ribbon section is one of my favorites. I never seem to have enough ribbons and though I sell them myself I don't always want to have 50yds of it so I often buy them in shops.
Nothing makes a present look more special then the right ribbon to finish it off.

I'm sure you agree!

Mystic is an old historic seaport town so of course the colors of the sea are here too. Blue, green, turquoise.....all the colors I did more of at home too.
I still look at my tree and can't believe how much I love it.

For Valentines Day this is the place for Husbands and Boyfriends to pick up anything that would delight any of us!!!! hint hint!

I was rushing to take these pictures but I wish now I had taken more closes up to show you more detail. I promise to go back soon.

NEST also carries clothing which I didn't take pictures of but I did buy the cutest brown lacy top/dress which I love. Will look even better when I lose the 10lbs I gained this year!!!))

Working on that ....really!

Love these graphic plates

There is color in the shop but always with a backdrop of white and silver. The combination works well but you lovers of silver already know that!!!

When you first step thru the door you feel uplifted right immediately.....like your walking on a cloud and surrounded by wonderous beauty. Is that what heaven is like???
I hope so!

There's nothing here that makes you feel down or depressed.

Everything is sparkling and like no other shop in Mystic and the surrounding towns. It's a special destination and one I know I always feel better when I come to.

Thank you Marcia and her wonderful staff for making us feel so welcome.

Now don't forget to visit the other participants of Silver Sunday!!!

Have a sparkling day everyone!

You have the BEST shops and I'm really envious.... mind you, I'd be broke if we had them near me.
Amazing pictures, and I love the way that George is keeping an air of mystery about him. It makes us all want to see him even more !!. XXXX

What a treat to tour this wonderful shop through your magic lens, Carole! I have written down Nest as one of my must-see daytrip destinations. They have just the kind of items I love. It's funny, because one of my favorite shops in Massachusetts is a little place in Concord called Nesting. We must just love those places that make us feel like feathering our nests! xoxo Gigi

I love visiting your blog. You have wonderful photos from your visit. So many beautiful items. I've told you before that my maiden name was Maynard, so it was interesting to read a post on Maynard Greenhouse about a shop you visited owned by someone named Marcia. Same spelling too :-)

Hi Carole, Thanks for sharing the pictures of that beautiful shop! It's like in your shop: I would need a large budget :). I remember that I visited a Christmas shop when I was in CT over ten years ago. When I remember correctly it was a little bit outside of Mystic. It might be not there anymore. I bought a couple of little silver baskets decorated with an angel. They always remind me on that wonderful vacation.

Have a great Silver Sunday!

Hugs and love,
Julia

Beautiful shop. Thanks for sharing with us. I just heard that one of my fav. shops here is having 70% off all remaining X-Mas and they have a ton of it. I'm trying to stay away, but I'm feeling that urge pulling me that way!

Hi Carole! Thanks for the trip down memory lane, we went to Mystic on one of our favorite vacations ever last year! We had one day where we ventured through the shops and although my hubbys idea of a vacation isn't shopping he indulged my daughter and I:) Him and the boys hung out on a bench watching the world go by while we browsed. I loved the nest and all it's beauty! What a fun post for me, Thanks ~ Theresa

I enjoyed the tour, since I never get out east. I have seen her shop featured in a magazine, at least I think it was that Nest.
Anyway thanks for the inspiration

Hi Carole, OMG what I would give to be close to that shop. It is just lovely. What a great post. In your last pic, did you add that starburst from the crystal? or did it just happen. Beautiful touch.
Also I agree that the blogworld is fine way of keeping up with the trends. Seems we all have very good taste...julie

How lovely! If I ever go to Mystic again I will find it. I was there several times when I still taught...and once with friends. They wanted to go tour that ship, but no way..more than enough times for me!
I have been to Bethpage Restoration Village over 40 times....I don't think I ever want to go again! ( well, maybe I will take my gkids someday!)
Raining here..finally will wash the ice away..it hasn't been fun!

Its a good thing I'm not in that shop. I'm afraid I'd ruin our budget. Don't think I could restrain myself. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed the tour. Rosie

Absolutely gorgeous. I haven't been to Mystic in a lot of years but I think it's time to plan a trip there. This store looks amazing. I think I would have to drive, though, with a pick-up truck, hauling a trailer. I saw so many things I liked.

Thanks for a super post!
