Silver Sunday...wow what luck!!!

Yes it's Sunday and it dawned on me that I had in my archive of saved unpublished posts some images of silver trinkets I had bought in Brimfield and Madison Bouckville this Fall. How lucky was that?

So here goes.... hopefully I won't accidentally delete anything while writing this. Don't you hate when that happens.
I'm suppose to be working on orders and all I've done so far is email and check blogs.....I'll have nothing to plant or sell at this rate. Inventory is getting slim and I beginning to panic:))) like I do every year!!!

Anyways this is much more fun!!!

I'm not usually much of a buyer of jewelry at fleamarkets....but my friend Kathleen is and as she was eyeing up their wares I found myself doing the same. She had a specific thing she was looking for, while I had no idea what I wanted or if I even wanted it.

We then found a dealer that specialized in silver which you may know by now I love anything silver. I know nothing about jewelry which is probably why I stay away from it. Interestingly my grandparents were jewelers back in France and my father was an horloger(a watch maker) by trade. He did many other things after that in his long life but he still always loved tinkering with broken watches. As he got older it was harder for him to work on small pieces so it was mostly larger clocks he tackled. Now a days there are very few people that do that work ....a true lost art!

What I liked about this pieces was that they were lockets and though I had no idea at the time what I would put in them I liked the thought that I would store something precious in them.
Nothing of great value but something that meant something to me.
The dice were bought in Madison Bouckeville and were not at all expensive by any stretch but will always remind me of our trip to Laura's house in the Adirondacks with Paula and Deanna.

We all had so much fun shopping, preparing dinner together and sitting around at night reliving all that we saw and bought...... and yes even passed on.
A great girls weekend that I'll treasure forever.

The Angel with the heart locket I haven't yet put a picture in.......

I wonder who I'll put in there????

The rhinestone hat pins were the last thing I bought that day at Brimfield and if I remember right they were pretty reasonable and the little dish was a dollar.

Can't forget the silver mirror for $4 at Madison Bouckeville....Deanna would remember that one....hey and it had a mirror too!

Simple things just make me happy.

If you too would like to be happy go over to Gypsy Fish and check out the other participants of Silver Sunday.
Thank you also for all your good wishes for my computer......still working on getting one!!!
Except for their hours ......I'm really enjoying the public library!!!!
haha!!!
XO,
Carole

Hi there Carole,
I'm loving all of your silver.
I love silver too and have lots of silver jewellery. I don't think that I have anything gold except my wedding ring and my engagement ring, which are white gold!!
The lockets are so lovely. It always makes me wonder who has worn them in the past....... but, I think that my favourite is the hand mirror. It's from the art nouveau period which is my favourite.
Hope that you'll be up and running soon wwith a brand new computer. XXXX

These are all gorgeous... just something you whipped up earlier !! haha
Well I love them all as silver is my thing .. but that little trinket box with the die is... well to die for..hehehe [sorry].. it really is my favourite..!!!

How fascinating that your father was a watchmaker... another obsession of mine... well i think most of us... there is something about watches that enthralls us all... So maybe next Sunday I might join you in this Silver Sunday... I'm sure I have a bit of stash around here... Take care Dear Carole and always lovely to see you post... and your 'finds' are always something I would treasure myself.. xxx Julie

Love your site and I've signed up as a follower. Thanks for your visit and comments on my Silver Sunday post.....I wanted to correct something that I stated regarding the silver butter warmer...when I bought it, that is the way the tag was marked. I have been doing research and found that it is actually called a Silent Butler and was used for putting crumbs that the 'butler' swept off the table between courses and also the keep ashes...I guess it was a pretty place to hid things while trying to keep things tidy. Wanted to reach out and let you know. Looking forward to visiting with you in the future.

Hi Carole
Love the little locket with the dice and everything else you bought. Can't go wrong with silver! I wouldn't mind signing up for silver suday but I still have computer woes. Sounds like a song we could sing - I've got the hard to blog no computer bluuuuuesssss. Ha I need to eat, I am getting silly. My PC is still down and that one has all my pics, my laptop died over Christmas so I traded it in for a used one that absolutely sucks - so I think I will buy a new laptop, might as well bite the bullet. But I go back and forth...
Have a great week
Blessings

I'm sorry that your computer couln't be repaired but I'm sure you will love your new one. Ours blew up last year and I was so amazed how much faster the new one was, especially in the internet.

Hi Carole! I love all of your silver items! And your photography is stunning!!! My fav is the first shot of the rhinestone hat pins...awesome!

:) T

p.s. I didn't realize you weren't going to carry JDL this go around...it really is a lot of money to come up with up front...it sold out very quickly for me, but I just don't know that I want to commit to carrying anymore cases than I already do...
