Irene

Today we spent the day getting ready for hurricane Irene.

While George spent the day making sure our greenhouses
don't go flying off in the wind,
I spent the day putting away anything that could do the same.

It's not always easy to have a business so exposed to the elements.

But we handle it the best we can.

You would not have been able to tell by the weather today that in less then 48 hours  we will go from 80 degrees, sunny and calm to
heavy rains and winds over 80 mph.

While I was putting some perennials under the benches out popped a praying mantis.
Obviously he had been enjoying the day too.

They say that praying mantis symbolize peace, quiet and
calm in our lives.
I need that right now.

I need to not panic but stay focused on getting through this storm.

I have few more things to do tomorrow morning ( in the rain)
and then we will hope for the best.

I hope any of you in the path of Irene
stay safe!

I love your new table and skirt in your last post. I need to get over to z's and see her lampshade too.

Wishing you luck as you ride out the storm. Can feel your pain, as I have property in North Myrtle Beach, SC, and I can only watch what's happening there on the weather channel and Facebook. Hopefully, none of us will receive any damage. Hoping and praying!

Hopefully it will just be a lot of rain. Tomorrow morning we are all going out to the store to get our favorite non-fridge comfort foods and we have our uno cards, candyland, and candles ready :) Stay safe!

Your photos are so lovely it is hard to imagine how different it will look by Sunday. Hopefully no different just a little damp.
i am trying to calm my fears for the kids, I know they are pretty safe, but I would certainly feel better if I was there with them...
So all of us out here are praying for all of you over there and we'll catch ya on the other side of Irene.
Stay safe and we're thinking of you.....

As you know Carole, we are thinking of you, George, the cats and Maynard Greenhouses. You and George have done all that you can so, here's hoping that Irene will have calmed down a lot by the time it reaches the East coast. Take care, look after yourselves and I shall keep everything crossed that it won't be as bad as they think. XXXX

It is a bit crazy out there with earthquakes and hurricanes. Irene is widespread but hopefully she will fizzle a bit now that she has hit land. Of course, flooding and wind will cause damage and the storms that spring up as a result of the hurricane will be a problem. I sure hope it won't be as bad as predicted. Your images are so beautiful. Take care and stay safe! Best wishes, Tammy

What a glorious site Carole. Visiting from Suzanne's magnificent space in blogland.I hope the mantis is a sign from Mother Nature that she is going to go easy on the coast. Take care. I will be back!

Yikes. I have been thinking of you Carole since late Sat. Irene left here & then the news out of NY/Conn/NH/VT was so bad. Hoping to hear from you soon. xo
