Brimfield goodies

I finally got around to photographing some of the things
I bought at Brimfield this morning. I like using natural light so by the time I get home
well....the sun is no more and not news to
all of you, the days are getting shorter.
Not so bad now but when it starts to get dark at 4:00 it takes a little getting used to.
I feel like saying...... wait a minute
 who turned the lights out?
It just seems to happen overnight.
In reality it does when we "Fall back"
which I never seem to realize until it's too late and
 I'm late.

Don't get me wrong I like the quieter pace that goes along with it.
Wouldn't we all get bored if the seasons were all the same?
I would.

I digress

This was one of my favorite purchases....an old tool box with distressed gray paint.
I saw plenty of them up there but I liked mine the best.
It's sitting on an old metal stools that I will have to
 show another time.
That's one of my favs too.
Ok I have a lot of favs.

Lace doilies. I bought a lot of lace...mostly tablecloths.

metally thingys

simple little mirrors.
Gold I know...not what I usually buy,  I might even leave
them that way.

Sequined pieces that I'd like to think were part of a
fancy dress once.

A few tin type photos and a small doll purse.

So serious but having to smile for a long time
...not so easy.

Some of my test tubes.....the others I have set up already.
I'll show those another time.

This mirrors are not even that old but I liked the detail on them.
The shoes on the other hand are old.
My fat feet would never fit in something that thin.
Not that I planned on wearing them.
Why is it that as you get older your feet get fatter?
maybe it's just me.
Ok forget that question.

My  second only altered photo.
I'm so proud of myself that I resisted not adjusting
or tweaking most of them.
Hence why I like the LIGHT!
Some of that discussion is partly selfish, it does take much longer.
I did notice that blogger had changed the photo uploading.
Not a fan of the new change. I had no idea it was going to upload the whole thing at once.
Then it never memorized what file you were taking it from.
So click click click later you got back to it.
By then I forgot what I was looking for.

Maybe I'll have to post less pictures from now on.

Not sure why this purse called to me. It only has a
draw string to close it but the
beading was so pretty.

This will make a great dolly bed.

Collars

Wish we still wore hats like this!
I wore the craziest outfit to Debra's Oktoberfest party yesterday you'd think I could wear a hat like this.
Sorry I won't be showing the outfit.
If it was up to George I would burn it.
ha!

A blouse I bought for a dollar. Only a small hole.
I'll use it on a dressform probably.

Checks written in pencil.
Trusting back then.

Will use this in a Christmas tree!
decorated of course.

That one single seltzer bottle that I bought
from that incredible tent with French antiques.
I was standing there with my little purchase as
someone else was purchasing a big armoire
and having it shipped to Florida.
What a dork I felt like.

Metal baskets....after awhile I kept finding myself
buying baskets everywhere,
 I had to control myself.

Maybe I can get George to play Bingo with me tonight.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend of fun and games.

Have a good week!

Loving everything ( would have fought you for wire baskets) but also noticed some great lighting and photo editing you've done here girl! Your different vantage points and use of natural light is something I should emulate.

BTW

Not just age affects feet:
Before Ben 7 1/2 after 8 1/2
Before Hannah 8 1/2 after 9 1/2

Wonder what happened to Michelle on 19 kids and counting?

Hi Carole,

I loved seeing all the beautiful things you came home with from Brimfields.
the lace and beaded bags are fabulous.
Also the starched collars and the cute hat are darling.
I watched the movie Largerfeld Confidential the other night and he had a drawer full of starched collars, when he was getting dressed to go out.
I have often been amazed at how impressive his collars on his shirts looked, so now we know.

have a happy week and thanks for visiting me.

I know exactly how you felt with your little bottle and the lady with the giant armoire. There were many beautiful BIG pieces that we couldn't dream of bringing home with us. My best friend and I had to take the watercolor that she purchased out of the frame and leave it so that we could get it back to Texas. Shipping was outrageous. But Brimfield was wonderful and we can't wait to get back next Spring.

Smiles,

Carol

Love the bone colored shoes. Yes, our feet and nose grow as we age. Awful to know. The tiny doll purse is enchanting. I must clean my house right now but stopped at this post only and it was totally worth it! hugs♥O

Hi Carole ~ You really scored some great things in Brimfield. Im so sad now that we have to wait until next May to go back:( Its so much fun to bring it all home and walk around the house for a few hours deciding where to put it all. It was absolutely wonderful to meet you at Debras on Saturday ~ I wish we had more time to chat. That 2 year old keeps me hoppin'. I hope you found your way home alright?

Dear Carole,
What a hord.... I love the vintage lace and I would wear that blouse and squeeze into those boots/shoes. They are D-I-V-I-N-E !!!!
I have every cheque that my Dad ever wrote, going back to the '30's until the time when they stopped sending them back. I'm not sure what to do with them. Any ideas ?!!
... and, I have seen hats like that (now called fascinators ovr here) that cost a small fortune !!I would wear that to a wedding.
I am loving all of your finds.....oh, and I love the mirrors with the black frames....it doesn't matter that they are not old. They are still lovely. Looking forward to seeing more.
Love your photographs too. Hope that the best man wins at Bingo !! haha. XXXX

Dang girl...I love your finds. I am crazy about that hat!!! I dare you to wear it to the next wedding you attend! Wouldn't that be awesome? I love the mirrors and metal thingys, but to tell you the truth I loved everything you brought home. I can't believe how overwhelming it must be to attend this show. I hope that someday I will be able to find out for myself.

OH Carole.. What a stash.. I'd have it all....

How frustrating it has taken me two days to get into this post and see your lovelies.. but of course.. it was worth it and your fab photos make it all the more worthwhile... I think my favourite is that beaded bag.. but then again I love it all and I'd be tempted to leave those mirrors gold.. Like you I'm not usually a gold girl but I like their worn appeal.. You know I was up the op shop recently looking for tablecloths but nothing there as nice as yours...

So... our days are getting longer.. we are up to 6 pm which brings me much excitement... and daylight savings hasn't started yet.. Like you I don't like using flash...PS.. love that shot of the sequined piece..... just beautiful..

OK.. enough for me... my 2 day craving has been appeased... now I'll just send you my address so you can post that seltzer bottle on to me.. hahahaha xxx Julie

i have a real nutty thing for seltzer bottles.
