White Wednesday~ Remembering Summer

Lately I've been feeling a bit nostalgic. I guess that's what this time of year makes me feel like. Maybe it's only because we're approaching the holidays.
Maybe it's because I now have more time to myself,
to think,
to reflect on what has happened in the last months.

During our growing season and then proceeding with our " selling" season there isn't often time to think of anything but work! Staying focused on the task at hand and multi tasking all the same time. Maybe why I like blogging so much. [Not good for my work schedule but a nice diversion!] This Summer we had record breaking rain but there was still plenty of sunshine to let the flowers bloom!
I often find myself saying....
"It rains a lot in England
so it must be ok for us here too!"
Flowers love the rain.

I realized that I had never shown you all of my friend Paula's house.
Perfect for a "White" post!

Some of these I had posted last Spring but remember this is my "Nostalgic" post. So indulge me just a little more.

Paula pointing out the lace around the coffee table to hide the cat scratches.
Clever idea.....Table socks!!!!
too bad Nigella only likes to claw up our upholstery!

There's the little culprit right there...Midnight! Little cutie! To be fair we can't just blame him.... Paula has 2 other cats..... they're very shy. I never see them except as they're scooting by to get away from company.

Paula's a big doll collector.....some are made by Evi's, Cathy and Nicol.

She decorates with white but brings in warm tones that envelopes you like your favorite blanket.
a page from Jeanne d'Arc Living. We were commenting at how much of Paula's house resembled what is in this book.

An old Irish pine sideboard...

The prints are antique botanicals from a booth in an antique mall that she and Laura once sold at years ago.

And we end with a delicate airy flower display in her dining room.

Hope you've enjoyed revisiting Paula's house.

I know I did!

For more White go on over to Kathleen's

Happy Wednesday!

Hi Carole, Thanks so much for sharing these photos again. I had not seen them and this room is just wonderful!! It's so cozy and comfortable, and I had to laugh at the little culprit standing there. Ooooohhh, he's a cutie. I just LOVE those ornery little critters!
Those botanicals are just incredible. LOVE them. Hope you have some time now to relax and enjoy the holidays!

hi laura! your friends home is fabuloso!! i love it so much and her gardens too! i thought the socks on the table legs were decorative til i read about the cat. too funny. i am shopping around for a new kitty, but do fear the scratching (although that just adds to the distressed look!) i love all the painted paneling and those botanicals!! great house and post!

Oh my! So much beauty in just one post! Is that a Japanese fern in the second mosaic - very pretty? And what are the boxes above the mantel - bird cages? The terrirum, the antique botanical, and the flower display in the dining room - so, so very lovely! Yes, like Jeanne d'Arc Living only perhaps a little warmer with the wood tones. Please tell Paula how very much I (we!) enjoyed the tour. And thank you, Carole, for making it possible! :)

Oh My Gosh Carole...Paula's house is beautiful. I want one just like it. To me she has such a great balance of the rustic with the elegant. I wonder if I could pull this off in my little 'shack'?! I love that arbor in the mosaic you did, with the tiered birdhouse on top. Actually there is so much awesome stuff here, that I'm going to have to go back over the post a couple of times just to see it all.
Oh and that white hibiscus is drop dead gorgeous!!!
Hugs,
June

Paula's house is like from out of a glossy magazine.
So many interesting treasures about.
I especially love the white hibiscus and the bear, bunny and dolls. Also the birdhouse is lovely.

It's always hard to pick a favorite image in your photos, they're always so rich and vibrant. Guess I'd have to go with the angelic little black fella looking all innocent. Yeah, right!
Best of luck in my giveaway!

What a charming home! Did I see a Jeanette McVey fabric box in the vignette of smaller pics? I used to sell her boxes and pillows when I had a shop. I love her work--to die for...
