Happy New Year

NEW YEARS last year

I struggled to find this photo file I had put these in. Don't you hate that?
Just as I was about to give up I found them. I'm running late so I'll be brief.
We are going to the same party tonight too. I am so looking forward to a night of laughter, great food and drink with dear friends.  Last year we played the game Right, Left Center ( or is it Left Right Center?) like we have played many times before. It takes no skill which is one of the things I love about it. You play with only a few dollars and set of dice.  That was me winning the big jackpot at the end of the night. I had forgotten I had won last year until seeing these photos again. Wonder if I'll be as lucky this time?  Don't want everyone to resent me so maybe I'll have to throw the game. Oh yeah you can't it's just luck. I didn't take the photos hubby did I think? I never looked better. Thanks honey. I wish I was blurry in everyday life.
The little wooden guy with his pants down is a Caganer. I know what you're thinking? what the heck is that.
All I will say is I never laughed so hard in  my LIFE.
Do you know the tradition? One the guests at the party lives in Spain and told us of the Catalonian Christmas tradition.
If you want you can read about it HERE

With that I wish you all a Very Happy New Year

You make my life a better place and I thank you with all my heart.

NEST in Mystic, Ct

George and I went to visit Marcia at NEST back in October.....I know, where does the time go? I'd meant to share it much earlier.
I finally got the photos transferred from my phone. For some strange reason I couldn't get them to transfer so I emailed them to myself. Pretty easy:)  Anyways here they are. I'm sure the shop is now full of beautiful Christmas decor. Marcia and her staff are amazing.
In case you didn't know they moved from their old location just down the road.
Say hi to the girls for me.

Happy Thanksgiving

Just wanted to say how much I am thankful for this year. It's what I love about Thanksgiving. It's a day to stop and reflect on what is most important. Our family, our friends and of course our beloved pets.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving day enjoying a day filled with loved ones around a bountiful table.     I still haven't gone grocery shopping yet.
I wish I could do a little dancing and singing in the aisles like Sara.
You think I should?

Late summer happenings

Hours, days and weeks just flying by. Hubby likes tomatillos tomatoes ( so he says) so I made salsa that I put up. Yup I'm canning. When??? usually very late at night. Friends will ask, when do you have time? I don't, but there is nothing better then pulling out a jar in the middle of Winter. ( that's when I'll sleep)

I found a new thrift store the other day. Actually it's always been there just  bought by new owners but I like their inventory better and great prices. I'll show more later. I love those Limoge plates. How could I resist.
After going to the bank and post office..... so boring... I stopped in the fabric store Coastal Sewing Machines in town. It's mostly a quilt store but they have the greatest fabric. I gave myself 15 minutes and even set an alarm alert. It scared me when it went off. I really wanted that black and white number but couldn't decide how much I wanted. I showed the photo to hubby and he said I really didn't need it. He was right since I was just going to use it for the produce table. The french general fabric in red and white was 40% off. I may have to go back:) of course I've yet to do anything with the last red and white french general pieces I bought but I like just looking at it in the drawer.

I've been better at saving seeds. Well I'm good at collecting them, not so good at finding them when I need to sow them in the Spring. I'm going to be more organized. These are hollyhocks that were the prettiest shade of pink. I'm going to use them also to add to my own garden. It's hollyhocks and foxgloves all the way for next year. They are so easy I don't know why I stopped growing them? Gives the garden that English garden feel.
Cricket is our oldest girl and well George's favorite) he even goes and gets her coffee cream from McDonald's because she won't drink any other. No not starbucks, not dunkin donuts not even organic cream from the carton. All I can think is it's the chemicals they use to preserve it. I know

She didn't buy that the mouse was real either.
She's old but she's no dummy.

And yes Christmas merch is arriving and I'm doing a terrible job keeping up. I love when it comes in but the unpacking and pricing is not fun.

All these photos are from my iphone and instagram.
You can check out more by clicking on the button at the top of my sidebar. Join me if you wish, I'd love that.

Hope you're all enjoying better weather.....I'm loving the temps in the 60's at night.......sigh

Gift Show 2012 part 2

at choo 2
At Choo
God bless you!
Isn’t that a cute name???
I have always loved this booth and admired their work.

I finally decided it was time to buy something from them.
I bought some charms and a few pieces of jewelry.
What I really love are their bottles filled with the most
 charming little pieces.
Some are little people(elves) sometimes just vintage this and that.
I didn’t take any close up since they were generous enough to let me take photos at all.
Of course the whole time my camera was being a bad girl
 and not auto focusing.
Are you getting bored with that excuse….. I am, but it’s true.
I looked into getting it fixed but its not worth it. I might as well get another camera which I’ve wanted for over a yr now.
It does auto focus half the time just not when I really need it to.

So long story, I’m sorry if these are a bit blurry.

What I was saying before I went on about my camera is I adore their bottles
but they are pricey and as
much as I think everyone would notice them and love them as much as I do
I don’t think my most customers would spend the money.
I hate when that happens  ‘,-(
You love it and you know it fits your look but it’s overpriced.
You sit on it forever to just have to give it away later.
If you could just buy anything you want and not have to worry about price
point being a shop owner would be so much easier.
I know most of my blog friends understand this so I’m not letting you in on anything new.
Just saying…..

Now this was a new line that I’d never seen before.
(again sorry for the blur)

Headbands made with galvanized wire from a gal in California.
I thought it was really different and very feminine.

other side
The only really random shot I took.  It was opposite the booth I had bought from and just
took a chance that no one would yell at me.
I never told you but I did get yelled at once by a vendor.
Gosh it was embarrassing. It wasn’t even his booth but he came right up to me and said I needed
to delete the photos or he would call security.
I was only taking it because I didn’t want to forget
to go back the next day.
I think he was mad because I wasn’t taking a photo of his ( not so fantastic) booth.

Just saying……

I did buy from this booth…..thank goodness!
so they were happy to let me snap away.
As a matter of fact the more photos I took the more I was buying.
I thought I was done but they were happy to keep adding to the order.
frames

I have to say that every sales rep was super nice.
Very appreciative to have me stop to place an order.
I don’t expect to have them say anything but it was still nice to hear.

pallet shelf
Great use for old wood for making small bookshelves.
They look like old pallets.
pallet

Now these of course are pallets cut in half. They make great open drawers. I remember seeing
them using this last year and keeping there order forms in them.

You never know where you’ll find inspirations?
