Going to the Post Office can be fun

My friend Kathleen stopped by to see me at work just as I was running to the Post office to send off some  JDL magazines. She had some time to kill so she came with me. I know how could she resist a trip to the P.O? :)  When we were driving back I asked her if she wanted to stop at one of my favorite antique malls in town. Maximus   One of my favorite booths is Mimi's who used to own Fenwick Cottage in Essex.
After closing her store she decided to keep a small booth just to give her a creative outlet.....and as she puts it her "feet" still in the biz. My favorite was that little secretary in the corner. Very sweet with lots of little cubbies and great little details. Only the first 2 photos are from her booth. I should have taken more....oh well next time
The old chippy blue beige piece was interesting and well priced but it was too primitive for me. Maybe it was the way they accessorized it? Filled with all white ironstone it could look so different. Do you ever feel like you want to move merchandise in their booths? This could look so much better here! I don't, but I so want to. Like I think I know better then them.....what nerve!

Oh then suddenly as we were walking out I saw Luna's the new frozen yogurt shop. Everyone in town has been there but me and hubby....and Kathleen. One thing that this town loves is Food!!! but at least it's healthier....right? it yogurt! forget all the fattening toppings you can add. wink   It was delicious and the girl at the counter was very friendly and helpful as we stood there like dopes not knowing where to look first. She gave us samples too...
I ended up with some mango combo.....I forget what else.

SO YUMMY

Who knew going to the PO could be so fun or yummy!!! Funny about the yogurt, a new shop openend up in our little town as well last Spring and my son and some of his buddies went in to try it out. My son loves ice cream and frozen yogurt so he heaps his cup and piles on the toppings to find out at the counter that he owes $8. I told him it doesn't pay to be greedy sometimes, but all he could think about was wanting to try some of everything:-) Lesson learned!

Thanks for the reminder of JDL also....I can't believe it's already the end of the month and school starts on Mondy:-(

Enjoy your weekend!

xoxo
Kathleen

You wandered but were not lost. I like the primitive piece too and I do not get the way folks sell old air vents. We have those in old sheds at the old house. Thanks for following me on Instagram. I am still a wee bit at sea. xoxo, Olive

I never realized you were right here in CT until I saw your Instagrams. oh, how I miss Fenwick Cottage. Of course it makes sense now why all the new booths at Maximus are so awesome. I miss Luxe also... Sigh...

Thanks for taking us along with you on your trip to the post office. (I pinned the photo of the beige and blue cupboard. The paint finish is really interesting ... though a bit too primative for me, too.)

I do that too Carole : ) Not that I am any good at it, but sometimes I would love to just make a few suggestions :0 In fact I was just in a shop today that I shop at every now and then and her layout drives me insane. (ok, maybe that's an exaggeration)but she could use her space to display so much better))

I want to go to the PO next time!
hugs from here...

Hey Carole, I'd come with you to the post office any time :-). We'd have lots of fun doing some redecorating in the antique mall but can we please start with that ice cream shop? They obviously thought they need to serve a freezing design along with the frozen yoghurt, lol.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Big hugs,
Julia

Hi Carole,

Looks like a fun day out and I wish my trips to the Post office had some nice shops like yours along the way.
Topping it off with a mango frozen yoghurt, would be the icing on the cake.

Have a happy week
Hugs
Carolyn

Oh Carole how did I miss your last post with the plate, the French General fabric and the ice creamery!
Look any time you want to take company to the Post Office just call me OK? You are such a lucky gal to have so many nice places to pop into.
That little secretary is rather neat isn't it with all the sweet little drawers.
Oh and would so love to see your hollyhocks and foxgloves next Spring when they flower - ours are just greening up nicely - we have heaps of these in our garden as they grow like weeds!
Can you check the postal to Aust for Jeanne d'Arc Living?
Thanks for your sweet visit!
Sending big hugs,
Suzy
